Yes (and no?). It isn't legitimate in the sense that you can seek legal counsel here and always receive the correct advice on questions, but it is a completely legitimate forum for people to share their experiences and offer advice. The guides here also do a good job of detailing the process and what needs to be done. That being said, it would help understand better what exactly you mean by legitimate and what that's referencing.

Ok, so just staying a week or so.  Not sure exactly when I will be going.  Need to sell my house first and get my company to allow me to work remotely for a while.  Then I will be there for an extended visit.  I am hoping to get there before my birthday, but probably after.

Well I don't have an RFE yet, which I think I could expect at this point considering all the RFEs that have been issued for people behind me...So either my case is sitting on a shelf as one of the forgotten ones (or in the queue of the slowest adjudicator in all of USCIS history possibly or hopefully it snuck by the adjudicator. Who knows really. Definitely not getting my hopes up now.

Hang in there.  I hope that it is done and you have the NOA2 on the way.  That you don't get an RFE for the signature.  I don't recall, have you called and gotten a Tier 2 person?

Those of us here are the same as you, we have filed our K-1 Visa and are waiting for our SO to receive the Visa and come here to be with us.  There are some that pop in that have gone all the way through the AOS stage and have additional information to impart to the rest of us.  As was said, it is not specifically a part of USCIS, but uses the information from them.  If your Mom has concerns, have her come here and read some of the posts that people have put on the site.  We are here to help you through the journey, not hurt.

Yeah twice. Two Tuesdays ago I had an adjudicator assigned and was told any day now. Then this Tuesday I called again and was told I have an adjudicator assigned but no RFE or decision on my case yet. Still nothing in informed delivery or electronically. I'm in MD and expecting it to take about 5 days to reach me, so even if I were approved on Tuesday right after I got off the phone, I wouldn't expect anything in the mail sooner than tomorrow. I re-read the instructions form and it doesn't explicitly say that an original copy is required, but it doesn't say photocopies are ok. I'll be sure to update when I know more. Other than that, the statements are as clear as can be that we are both legally able to marry and intend to within 90 days of POE so hopefully it'll get glossed over, but her copy is clearly scanned and mine original. We'll see. Fingers crossed.

That is the word my mom used. My mom isn't completely old school- but she has the notion that since I'm gathering information and confidence from a website, maybe it's not real. Do you know what I mean? I am using Visajourney as a guide for how much longer I need to wait, what is the normal amount of time...etc. And I read on this forum that people are finding out first through the NOA2 notification they receive in the snail mail. I'm in Peru and checking with them regularly if they've gotten any word.

The only information I have is from VJ and asking questions from others.  Everyone told me original signature was required for letter of intent.

 

And our petition was approved and our letters were not notarized.

Yeah the notarized was just me being paranoid...it's not required.

 

I probably won't do it. Just after 5 months of waiting I don't anything to hang up on something small.

So I have a question.  A friend of mine called an attorney after a talk we had the other day and the attorney told her with a 15 year age gap and me having children that our chances of getting a K-1 visa are slim to none.  That we should get married and go that route.   So lay it on me...how much truth is there to that?
