I woke up feeling very positive today so hoping for lots of lovely NOA2 news! I keeping debating as to whether to get Matt to call but I'm trying to hold out as long as possible as they have not been the most informative or polite to him when he has called previously. I cannot imagine how manic that place must be for them though!

I don't think they have reached your date yet, so I'd also try to hold on and wait a couple of weeks more... Though, of course, easier said than done ;)

Hoping for good news for you soon, as well as a bunch of approvals here today.

I think I'll start working on the DS-160 later, so I least I can feel I'm doing something :P

Conspiracy theory: I was applying the slightly delusion logic that it takes them a while to update the systems and send out the NOA2 so they may be a little further ahead than we think haha

Sorry, I'm a bit confused now. Didn't you send the letters of intent to marry with the original package? Because if so, the updated ones are supposed to be taken to the interview. Not that every Embassy requires them (I've never seen mine doing so), but one of those better safe than sorry situations.

According to this, not originals are required anymore.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/news/ink-signature-no-longer-required-on-affidavits-of-support.html

Also what happened with the missing birth certificate? Didn't they ask for that?

Lol, your RFE has me confused

Haha my RFE has confused me I am never leaving matt in charge of paperwork again....

we were missing quite quite a bit!

Birth certificate, my intent to marry him, circumstances of meeting & personal meeting. 😒 So I'm trying to get it all done today so we can get it posted!

@Estibaliz so do you think I should print it all out and post it, from UK to USA it should take 10 days. That way I could make it pretty and put post nights explaining things. Also how many pics/ screenshots of conversations etc should I use?

Or i I could do it all online and scan the intent to marry and email it to my father in law and have it posted in USA back to Uscis by tomorrow.

Should it matter?

Personally if it were me, I would post it all. Yes it takes forever to get there but you wouldn't want to get a second RFE which would prolong you even further. Hope you get it all worked out :)

Do i need to elaborate more on this, or is this sufficient, on the documents they sent they said to include plans on marriage etc

Dear Sir or Madam:

I, // do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry // and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

We are planning a small ceremony at a court house in GA, and then have a big wedding party in England in the summer of 2018.

Yours truly,

Hi. I'm the petitioner and I am currently in the philippines with my fiance. I keep calling the uscis and of course all I get is the voice options. Maybe because I'm calling at the wrong time? We obviously have different timezones. I was thinking of getting someone else to call uscis for me in the u.s. for example, my sister lives in texas, and we'll be living in the same address. Do any of you think that will work? Thanks so much.

Don't press any buttons, wait, wait, wait then you get a live operator

LOL  I'm gonna jump in your conversation here, hope you don't mind.   Apparently Matt really did get fired :D Mailing to Father In Law LOL

Seriously tho, my thoughts on the whole RFE thing is it is the one chance to fix it.  I take second chances seriously, so I would do it up like you are saying, and mail originals signatures.  I'm confused why they are asking for your birth certificate, but ?OK???  I guess so.

Anyway, that's just my .02cents

@dee-ar Congratulations on your approval :jest: Good way to start the day for us Europeans a few hours ahead :)

I like your conspiracy theory, @Salty2305 I think it worked before, so who knows ;)

@rachied26 I agree with Hannah (Salty) that I would also mail things instead of scan them, even if it's not required. I know there are faster options for mail, because Gary sent me the Affidavit of Support and supporting documents on Saturday and arrived here on Wednesday evening. It was pretty expensive  though (almost $90 with USPS Global Express, and not that thick of a package at all). I heard other people talking about DHL being good too, not sure.

Your letter of intent to marry sounds good to me. We used that template too, but we didn't even add details on the ceremony, just the first paragraph.

And yes, it seems you were missing a bit, but now is your time to fix it. That's also why I'm glad I was in the US when we prepared the petition, because I don't want even to start imagining the stress of having relaxed easy-going Gary preparing everything by himself

Sounds fine, like everyone else said you don't need to add the extra info but it won't hurt. The best thing you can do to get this organised is put together a contents letter similar to the one you would've sent with your original contents letter of what you've included for your RFE. That would then work as your checklist and you can add a post it for Matt as to what he needs to add before sending to CSC. Alternatively he could mail his birth certificate to you if that's the only thing you need from him and send directly to CSC yourself?

I'm still waiting for our NOA2 but this is the list of everything we sent in the original packet. Better to have too much than not enough!

  • Cover Letter
  • USCIS Form G-1145
  • Application Fee Cheque
  • Form I-129F
  • Form I-129F Supplement Part 2 (Declaration Letter) - This was additional info on how we met
  • Form G-325a & Passport Photo for Matt
  • Form G-325a & Passport Photo for Mason
  • Form G-325a & Passport Photo for Hannah
  • Letter of Intent signed by Matt
  • Letter of Intent signed by Hannah
  • Proof of ongoing relationship
  • Matt's Birth Certificate
  • Matt's Passport
  • Matt's Decree Nisi
  • Proof of having met in person within past 2 years
  • Proof of engagement
  • Facebook Messages/Posts
  • Whatsapp Screenshots
  • Trip documents (confirmation, hotel reservations, boarding passes)
  • Receipts of Gifts
  • Email Contact
