The NOA expires in 4 months since approval, yes, but for what I've seen the consulate can extend the validity quite easily. Not sure if there's a specific procedure to do that, but I'm sure it's easy to contact the Embassy and ask for it if necessary.

Anyway, remember after getting the visa you still have six months (counting since medical, if I'm not mistaken) to travel to the US and use it.

Hey, once you're able to work in the US I think you should get a job at USCIS.   You know so much about the process and are so helpful!  When people call and ask questions, you would be a DREAM to have on the other end of the line!

Hah, I'm not moving to California just to work for them

But seriously, working there has to be the most frustrating thing in the world for people that really wants to help the ones calling... because you can't tell them always what you want to, but just stick to the script. I even think the reps can get into trouble if they transfer to many calls to Tier 2 officers, and that's why they strike us as unhelpful and even bitchy sometimes... Just a thought.

Hi guys, I've never posted on here before but have been following everyone's updates and I have to say its helped me stay motivated these last four months. I just called USCIS and found out from tier 2 that my case has been approved!!!!

This affects non immigrant visas. K1 visas are still being processed normally at embassy in Moscow.

Yes. You need NVC to assign your case number and send to the embassy, then the embassy will send ready notification to petitioner and beneficiary, and you pay for the visa, and then you can schedule interview.  You can fill out the DS-160 and pay ahead of the embassy ready notification.
