Hey all! This is random but I'm hoping to enter US by February & get married strait away ( figured by Feb, our rfes would have a lot of time to process then interview etc then do Christmas at home with my family). Do you think everything would be back by end of June so I can leave the country? Then I'd be coming back to pick up my dog & bring him over on a cruise. It does mean I'd be gone for a    Month because the cruise is 9 days plus I have a friends wedding & would wanna see my family.

Any ideas?

You must have your AP ( advance parol) before leaving or get a waiver or you will be stuck outside US. AP is part of AOS and takes about 4 months. Check quarantine laws in US about your pooch.

The i94 is mandatory. He can get it online once he's in the country and it's an immediate thing.

Driving licenses are another tricky question. It varies depending on the state, but the general consensus is you can't have one until you get the EAD.

I'm not very informed on this topic, but apparently the one you get under the K1 expires when the i94 does.

So there are different scenarios depending on the state or even who you talk to at the DMV.

It differs by state. Georgia allows you to get your drivers license after 30 days as a resident.

Oh that's good news I hope it is also like that in Illinois. I already have a car waiting for me and Matt wanted to teach me to drive as soon as possible so I can go places.

Does anyone ever get mail and informed delivery showed nothing?

Yes, that happens to me sometimes.  There have also been a couple times where I don't receive an email at all.  Seems to be those are the days that I don't get any mail.

It doesn't look like it's required in LA County. The requirements vary by county. LA's only requirement for a marriage license is proof of identity (passport, drivers license, alien registration card, etc.) If you've been divorced within the past two years you'll need proof of the divorce.
