I am pretty sure your approval should come one of these days! Hold on tight! 😊

Doesn't your pay stub show your gross earnings and your net earnings? Every pay stub that I have ever gotten has shown that regardless of where the money goes (e.g., savings accounts, checking accounts, IRA, 401k, HSA, taxes, etc.).

It shows gross, but the net it shows is minus the allotment so it looks a lot less than it is.

Unfortunately(?) :unsure: I'm a planner and have already begun looking into that and want to have the entire AOS packet ready to send off the same day we receive the marriage certificate, if possible.

I'm the same. I'm trying to send the entire packet off the next day after the wedding maybe the same day if possible.

Does your employer use a third party payroll vendor such as ADP? If so, you should be able to retrieve a copy of your pay stubs from the vendor. You should be able to do that through ADP, for example. If you're unsure, you should call or email someone in HR and to see what can be done. It would also probably be a good idea to attach a the I-134 instructions form when you contact them so that they know explicitly what is needed and hopefully nothing is lost to some bizarre interpretation. That's what I'm planning on doing.

My pay stubs come from the military so I'm really not sure. I just don't want to leave anything up to chance.

I'd say that should be good. I'll go back and re-read the instructions form for both the I134 (Embassy interview stage) and I864 (AOS stage) just to double check, but I didn't see anything indicating that you need to meet the poverty threshold with your net income vs gross income. I'd assume that it's based off gross because everyone has deductions and those deductions show where the money is going.

I read somewhere (quite a while ago) that if the sponsor is actively serving in the US military you only have to meet 100% of the poverty line. Has anyone else seen this? I can't remember where I read it but can't find it anymore.

It would make sense since my fiancé doesn't get money for food/housing as this is provided for free.

3. Minimum Income Requirements

All U.S. citizens who want to immigrate foreign family members to the U.S. must meet certain minimum income requirements for immigrating a foreign spouse. There is a formula to consider. Active duty military do not need to meet a higher standard of income as compared to the general public. They must meet HHS Poverty Guidelines as noted in the link above.

i guess,  for military only 100%, since they also have a number of benefits in addition to monetary allowances? for example, in Russia, the military receive a monetary allowance, as well as benefits

Full medical support;

Provision of food (food rations);

Material support;

Lifting allowance upon arrival at a new duty station,

 Paid to military personnel and members of their families;

Payment to military personnel and members of their families for travel to the place of service and to the place of vacation.

The possibility of obtaining higher education on preferential terms without interruption of service;

Payment of a pension after 20 years of service;

Insurance of the life and health of the serviceman (payments in case of receiving injuries and establishing groups of disability for diseases obtained during the service, in the event of death during the service, relatives will receive compensation).

Servicemen are provided with free housing if they:

Have a service life of 20 years, or for a general term of military service of 10 years or more - dismissed for health reasons, family circumstances, or on reaching the age limit of employment;

and many benefits for children of military personnel

Just realised that Matt has already sent me the completed I-134 form but we obviously don't have the alien number yet. Does anyone know if it needs a wet signature or if he can just scan an updated copy over to me? Also does anyone know if K2 visas get an alien number as well as I'm wondering where that would fit on the form?
