Hello everyone. I think I have asked various people about this issue I have, but I wanna gather more answers to check if they're all same.  I wanted to ask again.

So me and my fiancé submitted our i129f April 2017 So we are waiting for noa2 exactly 34 days (not sure) but it more than a month now.

The 2x2 pic I submitted along with the g325a is below the one on left side, some people says that the correct size is on the right side and I might get an RFE for that (hopefully not) some says it's okay.

Do you guys think that I should get myself ready for an RFE for this 2x2 we submitted? :)

Yes, I do think left side pictures could get you a RFE, since they clearly don't meet the requirements and other people got RFEd for that reason.

Bright side: it's an easy fix, especially since you already have the right size picture. If I were you (being the impatient kind) I'd send the right picture to my fiance for him to have it ready in case that RFE was issued.

Congrats on looking great in your passport pictures. Not an easy task :P

Hahahahaha you know what I've already sent it to him. Lol. So if we get an RFE for this. I'm so ready but I'll be sad a bit because it might prolong the agony of waiting.

Are the scans really useless if they give my anxious brain something to latch on to? ;)

This post is probably going to be unpopular.  And I really don't want to sound like a party pooper here, but I tend to look at things under the surface to see if there really is something worthwhile there.  And as far as the scans go, my conclusion is yes for our purpose there isn't any value in doing them.  And for reasons which I will explain don't plan on being the scan guy anymore.

The idea behind the scans is to give you a more accurate idea of when your case might be approved.  By looking at our timelines, this means sometime in July to mid-august a good percentage of us will get our NOA2.  While the scans do tell you how many cases have been touched, approved and received RFE's, they don't give you a way to more accurately predict what your NOA2 date will be. (Contrary to popular belief)  Especially if you factor in how each case is unique and how little we really do know about the USCIS work flow.  I've seen the comment many times how "random" USCIS seems to work when looking at scans.  It seems random because we don't understand the system behind the numbers, which reinforces the idea that the numbers themselves aren't much value to us.  But that is neither here nor there because in the end the sample size here on VJ is large enough that one can make a safe projection on when cases will be approved.

Another thing that has been in my brain the last few days is how our scans might have negatively affected USCIS and in turn their electronic reporting of case approvals.  Doing these scans uses their bandwidth and server resources.  And being that several people were doing them it could have used quite a lot of their computer resources and slowed down their ability to work and get things done.    It's also known that USCIS browses these forums from time to time.  If I were in their IT department and caught wind of what was going on, it would be nipped in the bud no questions about it.  But whether we are affecting their ability or not, the mere possibility that we might have been the cause of them deciding to shut off the electronic notifications is unsettling.  And enough for me to say it's unethical to continue doing scans.  Even more so given the fact that we aren't gaining anything useful from them.  (Just to make it clear I know there has been no mal-intent involved with anyone doing the scans.  There are some really good people on VJ and everyone is just trying to get through the journey the best they can.)

Understandably we would all like more information about our cases and it's not easy being away from our loved ones.  This process is stressful from beginning to end: Getting all the information together, the possible delays, reading horror stories on here, etc.  Believe you me, I truly sympathize with everyone here.  Plus adding to the stress it seems like our cases disappear into the USCIS abyss for months with no updates and then all of a sudden reappear.  However we need to realize that the people working our cases are human too and part of our journey.  And the things we do can negatively impact the process for everyone involved.  It's time we took a step back to let the process work itself out.   As a bonus it will probably give IT one less thing to worry about and the time they need to re-implement electronic notifications.

Best wishes to all!

Thank you for sharing your point of view. I agree on some things and not that much on others.

I still thing scans were more accurate for a mere statistical question: the bigger the sample, the more precise the estimation. That's a fact.

Same reason why I even started a thread once to ask people to please update their timelines and do it the right way so the result is as consistent as possible.

Right now? Scans are a waste of time mostly and, overall, a potential cause of stress and additional frustration we don't need, given how proving is already this whole process.

What really frustrates me right now? The fact we are blinder than ever because now the electronic notification system doesn't work. Or even worse, it does for a few but not for the most, which makes this even more unfair. It's funny how we pay more than few months ago but get a much worse service in terms of information we get. Apart from that I don't question the rise in fees, because that happens everywhere.

That said, I've never complained about people working at USCIS. They do a hell of a lot of work. Are you even aware of how many petitions they have to process monthly? We love birds are just a few drops in the pond. The amount of petitions they receive only for alien relatives is overwhelming. And that can be parents wanting to reunite with their offspring and all kind of drama.

Of course we only see how hard is our particular situation. I'm really tired of having life putting sticks in the metaphorical bike that is this relationship... It's been incredibly hard and hopeless at some points. But we overcame it and now its just a matter of time and bureaucracy. Frustrating, yes. Worthy, yes. Will I have really bad days caused for delays and waiting? I will. But it is what it is and I'll try to be over it.

In the end, the best part of being here is knowing everyone else understands you. Let's keep each other informed and give us mutual support. I'm here for whatever you need.

I agree, this is a great line.  I do have to agree with Cruise77, this may be something that is causing problems for the USCIS and none of us want that.  We all want this process to go smoothly and quickly.  We just want our loved ones with us here in the US.  I am also in IT, more the network and server side of things.  I know that if someone was connecting in and causing a slowdown in the system, that I would cut them off, probably more than they may have done to us.  Also, as Estibaliz, they are processing a tremendous number of Visa applications, not just the K-1 for us.  They have a very hard job and appear to be doing a great job.  LOL, just not fast enough for us.

Here's to hoping we all get our loved ones here as soon as possible.

You are absolutely correct.  It is sometimes hard to distinguish which is talking.  I have this account set up for both myself, the Petitioner from the US and my love the Beneficiary from the Philippines.  So yes, the most important thing is for us to be with our loved ones.

You are absolutely correct.  It is sometimes hard to distinguish which is talking.  I have this account set up for both myself, the Petitioner from the US and my love the Beneficiary from the Philippines.  So yes, the most important thing is for us to be with our loved ones.

Keith

No problem :)

It's great you two share the account. My fiancé is the cool type that goes with the flow, so I don't think you'll see him around here :P I've done most of the work with the visa, because bureaucracy stresses him and I have more free time, so yep... it works for us :)

Wow! My original comment that seemed to have prompted this discussion was just tongue in cheek. Since we are probably all anxious & clinging to whatever information we can get. I don't really know anything about it and I wouldn't wish useless stress upon anybody! Waiting is already enough!

Hah, no, you are perfectly fine. IMO, it was obvious you were joking (or partly joking, right? ;)). We just needed to talk about the scans and make things clear for everyone as on how things are right now regarding that.

I'd dare to say we are pretty relaxed around here for now. We'll see in... What? A month time? 😁

Unbelievable... Someone from January has just updated on their status saying they called the NVC just to try their luck... And it turned out not only their petition was approved but already ready at the Embassy.
