I understand. My ex was supposed to file an uncontested with me and be done over a year ago, but ran off with her BF and then dodged every Sheriff that showed up to serve papers.haha But I finally caught her at work and it was served.

My ex moved from my house in with his girlfriend. And she filed our divorce papers. How's that for efficient.

Honestly, this is a horrible thing to say on a forum well-known in the visa world. Would you want them to take your comment seriously and suspend operations for a bit due to fear of a credible threat? I wouldn't.

Does anyone else go through stages of complete and utter panic that they won't get their NOA2 at all or is it just me?

I go through this all the time.  My worry is that our petition is lost in the USCIS "black hole" and approval takes forever...

I too was recently divorced ... I think about a week after I got the final decree I sent my petition in. I had a long discussion with Rapidvisa about this and they said no worries ... if you are legally divorced you are good to go, so there it is. As I understand it, USCIS is only concerned about the legality of the divorce; however, at the embassy, the moral question may come up, but I think a straight forward answer and you're good to go, after all they don't know all the ins and outs and who are they to judge  ... but just be prepared to answer or endure some answers about the X Spouse.<_< I am not looking forward to these questions but I am prepared lol

I don't think they will ask anything about the timing of divorce and petition.  Most questions at the embassy focus on you and the benificiary and validity of your relationship.  I wouldn't worry about this...

BTW, she was telling me that the airport staff and border control have super respect for the K1 holders. They treated her very well in Mini Apple and Amsterdam.

Huh, that is good to know.  Thanks for sharing.

As far as the NOA-2 goes no problems.  As long as you sent in a copy of the divorce decree you are good to go.  The only time it might come up is at the interview.  Depending, you may need to work harder to prove you have a legitimate relationship, since it started when you were not legally divorced. Good luck!

They do ask if you and/or your other half have been married before, as well as asking about any of you having kids and things like if you have met them. I guess then it's to the consulate officer's discretion to keep asking to go into more detail :)

Thanks everyone for all of your reassurance.

I truly don't know how I would've managed going through this without this website and the support! Nice to know we are all in the same boat.

From what I've read the London embassy is pretty relaxed in their interviews but it's definitely good to know that I may be asked about matts ex <_<
