Hi Guys, talking about tickets. Somebody have a clue if once the K1 is approved and so on. On the POE, with the K1 is necessary to have a return ticket or only one way ticket might be sufficient? - I was checking at tickets and got curious about it, not sure if that is clearly specify somewhere-

thanks

For the fiancé entering the US only a one-way ticket would be required as the fiancé can't leave the country for the 90 days and during the AOS period. The customs officer at the POE would be confused if the fiancé had a return ticket booked. Hope this helps!

Both kinds are fine.

One way tickets make a lot of sense since K1 is for immigrating purpose.

Having a return ticket is also fine. Lots of people have done this, as I plan to do too, because they are significantly cheaper (like half price, over $1000 cheaper right now for me). You only need to remember to cancel the return one before the flight date, so it doesn't cause any misunderstanding with immigration thinking you are abandoning the country and process.

For what most people have said on the topic, they don't care about what kind of tickets you are using.

I know it's early, but I have to vent.

USCIS annoys my soul. As I've stated before. I work for DOD. We needed our case done before the the second week of August to ensure that I could fulfill the wants of uscis. That's obviously not going to happen because they are obviously not doing their jobs. I mean the leg work is done for them the back ground checks are done for them. All adjudicators have to do is a final look through and approve or deny. But I digress. I call and speak to a tier 2 asking them what should be done as my position is probably going to send me out of the country for the next two years. For sure I'm being sent to TX and from what I'm hearing I'm being sent out of the country maybe two months in. I tell him this. He proceeds to read me the process of the K1 visa. I politely and calmly, at first, state I understand this but that doesn't answer the question of what would happen if I have to leave the country. He says I just told you. At this point I don't know if he's being deliberately obtuse. So I break it down even further. He says well wait until you come back. I state my next assignment is 2 years. He says well you would have to come back. I'm like it's not as if I'm going over to have fun. It's not for a trip, it's a job. Getting leave of that sort is not going to be easy and waiting until I get back is impossible as the visa would be invalid. He says well all I can say is there anything else I can help you with today. I said I would like to speak to someone over you. He says who are you asking to speak to. I repeat. Anyone above your station. He says he doesn't understand am I requesting to speak to a supervisor. I said yes. A supervisor. Your boss. Anybody. He says hold on while I find one and hangs up one me! What the . That's a legitimate question that you don't seem to have the answer to.

So now Ima spend my lunch everyday calling until I get someone that can answer my question.

When he thought I was just asking for case statues he says it's still being worked on and it's well within normal processing times as they are working on processing cases from the first of January. Figured someone might want to hear that part. But anywho. Rant over.

Feel free to rant as much as you need. Your frustration is more than understandable, considering how they have been treating your case. I remember when you told us you called to ask on how to expedite it and they told you that would be pointless because they were already working on your background checks. If I'm not wrong that was like two months ago so, obviously, that wasn't the right truthful advise to give you.

So ok, maybe they didn't know about the backlog and things getting slow back then but, still, they should try to be more assertive and empathic.

Hope you get to talk to someone that can give you proper answers and information. :(

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with USCIS…super frustrating. But rant all you need to - thats what this group is for!

It's very unfortunate that USCIS gives you the runaround every time you take the time to call. Makes no sense that USCIS wouldn't expedite this case, as you meet the requirements for it. I wish the Gov't would put themselves in other people's shoes, as we put our lives on hold during this process, but they usually don't….

I hope you hear something very soon - you deserve it! School is starting up very soon so USCIS shouldn't be understaffed. Stay strong!!!

I'm very thankful because people like you understand situations like this. I know it might seem ridiculous to others but I guess that's how we grow from this. We become more patient. Waiting for something we really wanted for a long time. Thanks for replying to my "venting out" lol I'm glad you noticed it though lol I know our NOA2 is just around the corner. Just a few more sleep and it'll be there in no time! I hope you get yours earlier than expected :-) Have a great day! @Keith & Monica

I appreciate the sentiment, but at this point it is not earlier than expected.  If it was easy, then everyone would do it.  LDR are very hard, but they are worth it if you truly love the other person.
