Not necessarily irrelevant. Some embassies require the letter.  Sometimes the letter doesn't come and printouts of a webpage screenshot showing the NVC # are used in place of the letter.

So, the letter is needed, but there are workarounds should you not get it.

The embassy duplicates this number when it receives a case from the NVC and informs you about it...if information came faster from embassy , there is no need to track by NVC number  where the case is...and you can schedule the interview

Even after getting our NOA2 yesterday I keep checking here to see if Keith and Monica got theirs. Our dates were very close, so I'm convinced you'll get it this week. Maybe there was a different person working on yours and they took some days off for Labor Day.

I keep doing the same with @Chris2870 and Faye. We had the same received date. Haven't seen anything posted from them for a while. But then this thread moves so quickly, and we have gained so many more VJers, its hard to keep track of who is posting and where everyone is up to! Keep us updated @Chris2870 ^_^

139 days and no reponse!!!

If I remember correctly, we were on day 138 when we FINALLY received our NOA2 in the mail.  It had already been sent a week earlier and I consider our case one of the 'quick approvals'. I know how frustrating it feels right now. Try not to worry too much! I'd say you are still well in the normal time and you should be hearing something very, very soon! There have been a couple holidays in there too don't forget. So hang on in there, good luck! ^_^

I am trying not to think too much about it.  Very frustrated and sad right now.  The only thing keeping me going is being able to talk with Monica everyday.  I am happy for everyone that is getting their NOA2 and beyond, but I am very very very jealous of them and even a little resentful of them.  I see people complain about under 100 days of waiting and even a little more.  We are sitting at 163 days since received.  Oh Well, we'll see.

One Day More... One Day Less... One Day Closer... :jest:

a million emotions......  all at once.  Crazy, isn't it?

Just some thoughts from what I have learned.....  uscis is a production based outfit.  Their bosses are concerned with what looks good as opposed to what is actually good - so your file sitting there at 163 days is a PROBLEM for them in itself.  2nd, RFE's don't stop the clock for their production numbers.  It's not like running out of bounds and stopping the clock, they would RFE everyone for nit picking stuff if it did.  Granted the RFE was your penalty but the total game time needs to be kept within their 'We Look Good' numbers.  For everyday that your case ticks above their Looking Good numbers, that's another case they have to pull and approve earlier to balance it out.  Visa Journey is just 8 point something percent of the total picture.  I realize you are sitting on the unapproved chair and I got moved off that chair - and perspective is from our point of view......... from my perspective, I'd say you should have your ducks in a row and be ready to rock and roll because any day now you are going to have a wide open road ahead of you...... :)

I complained the loudest, for 4 days I was approved and didn't know it.  Perhaps, just perhaps yours is already done.   So keep griping and venting about this - It really helps - just be ready, cuz u hafta be very very close.

It really sucks that some cases take longer than others. I guess the most frustrating thing is the feeling of being left behind when you see people after you being approved.

In the bigger picture, a couple of weeks are nothing compared to the months from NOA1 to NOA2. So, you are almost there. I hope you hear something very soon and maybe your NOA2 is already on its way to you

I feel your pain Keith. I'm at 135 days and going crazy.  Hopefully yours will come this week. I hope ours is this week or next at the latest. Tuyen and me probably talk 3 hours a day so that helps.  She's planning to quit her job at the end if the month.
