I was mailed a notice that my application I-129F for K1 has been received?

What should I do to prepare for the next step of the process?

Should my wife to be and I take a look at additional form(s) or fill them out while waiting?

I heard about RFE's but are there other surprises?

You could/should certainly read up on and prepare for the remainder of the process. The beneficiary could also take this time to investigate his/her vaccination history and get any necessary boosters/injections.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

You should relax and wait for your NOA2 :):pop:

Nothing you can really do until you hear back from them :)

You can check your vaccination status, like said before!

And the beneficiary can start sorting out the household, if necessary!

That's what I am doing right now. NOA1 was last week, and I realize more and more how much stuff I own.
So eBay will be my dear friend during the waiting period!

Good luck to you! :)

Gather the necessary supporting documents for the K-1 stage. Refer to the guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

There are only 2 forms that you guys really need to worry about for this stage i.e. DS-160 and the I-134.

Of course don't forget about the letter of intent for the both of you as well as her police certificate.

Look into vaccination history.

Perhaps even start budgeting on the upcoming expenses: K-1 visa fee, vaccination + medical checkup cost, shipping fee for documents if you're not with her at the moment, airticket price range, freight cost if she has to move to the US etc.

Additionally, maybe she needs to figure out how to deal with her local bank account, insurance policy, taxation and employee fund (something similar to 401k or IRA).

All the best and congratulations on the NOA1 :)

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Thank you ALL!

I received the NOA2 about 3 weeks ago..There wasn't any further directions in the letter. I've called the office twice.

1st representative mentioned administrative processing and gave me a case number.

A week later the representative said they didn't see any administrative processing and gave me the case number and ID number....

I took your advice and started filling out the support form I-134.

I was told they didn't have a method for me to track this online and  that the paperwork hadn't reach the embassy yet.

Any suggestions?

I thought we could start the ds-160 form.

Your case will now progress to NVC who will give you a case number and forward the case to the local consulate in your country of residence. The consulate will reach out with information about the steps you need to take from here.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Criminal Record Check should be done. I've been waiting nearly 2 months for mine! I started the process of getting it done before we even officially received the NOA2. Couldn't imagine having to wait 2 months for a record check AFTER they tell me to gather it.

Vaccination records are also next on my list and should be on yours too.

Update. I was given the case number and invoice number.

I check the website by selecting immigration visa

https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

the status read

"Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview,............. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at http://nvc.state.gov/interview "

I'm told I should wait for  the embassy to contact my fiancée.

What was your experience?

The documents were forwarded to Ankara.

Does the beneficiary schedule the  interview or does the NVC.

I'm getting some vague and or contradictory information such as "After NVC schedules your visa interview appointment they will send you, your petitioner, and your agent/attorney (if applicable) an email or letter noting the appointment date and time. "

WHile waiting we started the DS-160 it's almost complete.

Good topic.

-How far in advance can you have the criminal record ready? Is it considered outdated if issued more than 30 days ago?

-Can the beneficiary start getting vaccinations any time during those 5-6 months of waiting period, or they have to be done during the actual check-up immediately before the interview?

-Can the petitioner start working on tax forms and the affidavit of support to prepare it all in advance or, again, has to be closer to the interview?

If I need to notarize my diploma and transcripts for future use (not for visa process), can I just do it advance? Is there an expiration date attached to it or not?
