I don't see how these couples do it that wait a month or so after receiving their visa to do the moving. Sure, its smarter, especially with the exchange rate on money, but that flight is going to be booked AS SOON AS he receives that visa. And it'll be within a weeks time, hopefully the following day or so. lol I'm very impatient and he seems to be getting that way as well. At least on this subject.

I waited 3 months after getting my visa. I guess I didn't see a rush, and it was more of a transition than a big move. We had already been together for 6 years so it was more of a matter of one of us getting around to moving properly rather than starting a new life together. Your time will come...just think of it as a matter of hours rather than looong days.

I waited for about a month for my visa after interview and then it was another 5/6 weeks until I was on a plane. I had stuff to sort out anyway, shipping boxes, finalising my house sale etc etc. I also took the time to see things in London that I wouldn't ordinarily do, seeing the sights and generally seeing the things I wouldn't be able to for a while.

As much as I wanted to be with my hubby, I didn't want to rush my leaving the country I had lived in for 33 years.

My fiance will probably wait a few weeks to travel after he gets his visa. As mags pointed out, Chas will have things to sort out (sell his car, pack, etc etc) - and also, I don't think he wants it to appear as if he's in a hurry to leave his mum. Its going to be hard enough on her as it is without him seeming overly anxious.

Well honestly we have waited to use our visa for several reasons.

We got his visa in Feb and he isn't moving here till May 16th.

Yes it has been a wait and of course I'd love for him to be here right now. But in the end it gave us a few more months of wages. Gave him some time to sell his stuff. He is able to do a stag do. He took a month of work to do a 269 mile hike and visit with his family that he is used to seeing everyday.

We also planned a larger wedding so it gave us a buffer time between getting the visa and our wedding.

We have been very lucky during this 3 year relationship. We were able to visit eachother ever 3-4 months. So this to me is just like waiting for the next trip. I am getting antsy now. But he will be here in a month. Then a month later his family will be here for 2 weeks for our wedding.

To me...the process hasn't been as long as I expected! :)

same with Chris...he wanted to see things that he took for granted before. That is one of the reasons why he is doing that insane hike!

Well, Nicole - no worries with rushing - you guys aren't alone on that side either. Dan and I plan to have his flight booked within a few days of getting that lovely visa. The house sale is underway, and the car is gone already. Bless him - he's planning to move in with his parents after the house is sold until the big move!!

Hopefully you will get that visa in TODAY! Spence had his interview on 28th too, and I think he got his visa in on the 3rd! I would be getting overly anxious if I were you too.

As for moving immediately, Spence is moving in about 3 weeks from now. This way he can spend his birthday with his family over there and have some extra time to sell off those assests he no longer needs, pack and tie up some of those loose odds and ends. I can't wait for him to get here!

As for working holidays... I work at Walt Disney World. As you can imagine... we are open all year long and busy pretty much all year long. Holidays? What is that? Back when I was in more of a 'front line' position, we didn't get any holidays off unless it fell on our regular days off. We did get paid for the holiday, but we would have to take a vacation day to get the day off if it wasn't on our regular days off. AND in the resorts, we are open 24 hrs a day, every day of the year... so even when they would close the parks for, lets say, a hurricane... we at the resorts still had to report in for work! No kidding! I would have to take a sick day if I called in b/c there was a hurricane happening. There was coverage with employees working loooooong shifts as the ride out crew... but those of us who were not on that crew, had to take a sick day if we were not going to be there for work! I'm no longer on the 'front line'... so now I get a thrill knowing that I get a holiday off!

Still no visa as of yet. So tomorrow he's going to call. Which is best to call. The delivery service people, and then there are two different phone numbers on the Embassy info page. I don't really know. I know people have to wait a lot longer, but if something has went wrong (like say fingerprints or something) I want to be able to get that taken care of, so the time isn't extended that much longer. Dave doesn't have much loose ends to take care of. He's already quit his job, he lives with his parents, he's only bringing clothes over, so now it's just waiting. Even if we couldn't get a flight for another week or so, I want that VISA NOW! lol Just to know nothing went wrong, ya know? My mom keeps asking if we're getting discouraged, course she has no idea what the government is like on the immigration side either.

So you ever have those moments where your eyes get real big and you get all huffy?? I just had one. Someone with their interview on April 2nd got their visa today! Which I do wanna say Congrats!!! to them. Cuz thats very exciting news, just makes me soooo frustrated with the Embassy. Why don't they have any set order, schedule, anything set? Something normal to go off of? If I seem pissy about anything in any of my posts, I don't mean to direct it at anyone (besides embassy lol) I truly am happy for whoever it may be, I just don't understand the logic (if there were any) and it makes me soooooo mad!

I'm done now. lol

Congrats again :)

Thank you for the congratulations.

Here's what we did...I called the State Department yesterday and said "Is everything OK?" Was informed they had issued the visa the 4th. (I also called the 5th actually...was told we were in AP(WHAT?!?!) Called my man and said "It should be on it's way." He called the embassy to get the couriers number, called the courier, and was told unless it's 5 days missing they don't much care. After all this went on between 8:30 and 10:00 my time(1:30 and 3:00 his). Visa was delivered at 4:00 his time.

As a warning, he didn't get any notice at all it was coming, or had been dropped off.

Well, Dave called the embassy today and they couldn't give any info about it over the phone, but to email them. So he did. All he really got back was that it could take up to 60 days. Once I was able to read the post about calling the State Dept, I was going to, but Wednesdays they have just an hour open to talk to a visa specialist? So I'm gonna try to call tomorrow morning. This is frustrating. Sure, it could be them just being stupid, I just really hope nothing else is going on here. Dave said like at the interview that he does have a visa, they already said. When do they do the background check? Fingerprint check? This is all after the interview? (I figured the fingerprints, but figured they might take care of the other one beforehand) I'm just a worrier and I want my baby. Sure we were jumping the gun (at least no flights were bought) but we figured he'd be here by now. I know at this point he'll be over eventually, I just wanna know when. Today and tomorrow, I've been having training for my new job and we're learning new styles of people and stuff.. well, I seem to be in the category of needing to know WHY and all details involved. Has anyone noticed? lol
