Hi everyone:

My case was just sent out to NVC on 04/19.  I hope I hear from them soon.....I may have to join.  But in the meantime I have been reading all the comments on this forum to get a heads up on what to expect......

We are applying for immigration for my wife from India. She had to add my name (her spouse's name) to her passport, which means she got a new passport in order to obtain Police clearance certificate from the passport office in Delhi. NVC has all her old passport details in their records. And her police clearance certificate will have her new passport number now. Will that affect or delay her interview date with the embassy that we have been waiting for almost 2 months now from NVC?
Also we got an email from NVC about missing documents and to our understanding we didnt need to send anything to NVC. But when we called them they said they were waiting for her PCC. How can we get confirmed information?

Okay, so I think I'm about ready to file.  We're doing electronic filing. I don't think all the docs will it in one email - is that a problem?

We emailed ours on Monday over two emails. The total attachments were too large to send in one. We just put in the subject, email 1 of 2 and 2 of 2.

No tax transcripts - I haven't worked since 2013.  I did attach explanation of that to form and also SS statement showing my last year of earnings was 2013.

Well, sorry to hear that

  • NVC is supposed to have the latest passport. You should not have got her surname changed until the entire process is complete.
  • I have also heard that people from Delhi need 2 PCCs - one from passport office & another from police dept (this was from another person from the same forum). I am not from Delhi so I do not know the requirement. However, USCIS website mentions only one PCC from the passport office.  Please call up NVC, request for a supervisor(call during their earlier hours) and get a confirmed missing document detail.
  • When you talk to them also mention that you would be sending in your wife's latest passport copy, its better to mention what actually has changed in it. & also ask the customer service rep to unlock your DS260, because you need to update that as well with the latest passport detail.
  • & what was your scan date?

Good Luck!

you dont need to send photos

once upon a time it asked for 2 passport photos of the beneficiary however i don't believe its on the new checklists.  Myself and several others sent them anyway as we were uncertain, and the embassy told me they arrived in my NVC package and they'll use them instead of having me bring new ones to the interview (as long as they're less than 6 months old at the time of the interview).  Basicaly I don't think they are required at NVC stage anymore, but definitely for the interview.

with your bank statements, one thing to make sure of (assuming you're doing i-864 based on assets rather than income) is that the funds need to have been in your possession (or steadily being accumulated in your possession) over the space of at least a year.  For example, they want proof the money didnt just show up in your account last week just in time for your visa application.  For ours we provided 2 years of statements for our savings account, and for our day to day spending account which still has about $9K in it, we showed the last 6 months.

NB: when filing with assets instead of income, NVC will give you case complete with a checklist. The checklist will just be saying that the embassy will assess assets rather than them doing so, and to make sure you have up to date records at the interview.

We did bank statements etc up until our filing date in January. And then I just dropped off the updated records to the embassy yesterday, with a new i-864, in preparation for next weeks interview.  If you like I can let you know if I get any comments/requests back from them.

agreed. I was told whatever passport number I applied with is the one I need to keep, they said I'm not to change it until I've entered the USA.  The greencard visa is issued based on the name used the whole way through the process. You should contact NVC straight away.

hmm..

passport related question.

I'm about to send in my AOS & IV Pkg via EP.

My passport expires January 2018, so.. I'll be renewing soon. Would you advise I submit my pkg with current passport or should I renew and then submit?

Will there be any issues?

nvm.. found the answer from previous post on VJ. read it before, but forgot. =)

Hi, how come on the barcoded cover sheets (on the ceac site, not from the welcome letter) it says to send the docs with this: Attn: CMR AOS

I thought the ATTN: DR was the one we were supposed to use for our AOS/ IV packet? Is that cmr aos just from the older times when the packets weren't sent together or something?
