Hi everyone,

It appears that email processing is so much faster than mailing in the supporting docs. Could it be simply because there is a backlog of mailed documents sitting in the mailroom waiting to get scanned and uploaded into the NVC System?

When you say "scan date", does it mean your documents have arrived at the NVC or that they were physically scanned into their system?

For example, I'm looking for something like the following.

Tracking says mail arrived on:

NVC confirms documents arrived on:

NVC scans documents on:

NVC reviewed documents on:

Received cc (case complete) on:

scan date is when they scanned it to their system, :)  for example, we sent our documents Nov 2016 (i assumed that when i received the letter from USPS that our documents were delivered Nov 14 at NVC, i thought my scan date was Nov 14, and i waited 2 months yes!! 2 months to call them up and followed up if they finished reviewing my documents.)

Lo and behold! Tada! they told me that my scan date is January 13 (FYI, the form was finished nov 10 online) and wait 6 weeks and counting of days starts from JANUARY 13, when they scanned my documents) i just wasted 2 months ...  so when am about to reach the 6th weeks mark! it became 8 weeks, then on my 8th week, it became 11 weeks

anyhow, am just glad we are over that phase, and as much as i can informing people who are about to or currently on NVC stage..

note :

e.g: (scan date upon NVC scanning your documents assuming it was scanned January 1 and you have submitted the form online january 10 ) scan date would be January 10

if you submitted the document january 1, you shipped the document january 3, they scanned it to their system january 12, scan date would be january 12

Yea its a pain waiting 3 months at this stage and then another 1.5 months till interview day AFTER that.

I wish they could just hire more staff and charge a bit extra if the delays are purely due to human labour. :|

please extend your patience, we will all be through this. sending you good vibes :)

How many days/weeks after they received them, did this happen?

How many days/weeks did they say?

after they received the documents to 'receiving room' it varies, some was scanned after 2-5 days, some a week after, and unfortunately mine after 2 months, so i suggest call NVC to ask if they 'received' your documents, and ask when do they received it,

they will tell you to wait up to 11 weeks (currently) after your scan date

Does anyone know if you can give the NVC the email addresses of the petitioner/beneficiary using the UCSIS receipt number before they receive the case or assign a case number, or do they need a to assign a case number before they get your email address?

They would not take your email addresses to kick start your DS261 without your NVC case number. You would have to wait until you have them.

I saw 3 N/A yesterday evening and status is 'At NVC'.  But I still haven't received an e-mail from NVC.  Should I call them or wait till them to send me e-mail?

And does anyone know how long would it take to get interview schedule for Mumbai, India consulate?

Scan Date: Feb 10.  9 weeks 4 days.

Congratulations! See that you are from India!! :) Please update your timeline and keep us posted on your interview date, if you don't mind. That would help us in giving a fair idea on the timeframe for interview.

I have submitted the DS-260 and ALL documents required via email on April 20th, 2017.  I have also already been approved for expedited process.  For those of you who have gotten an expedited processs at NVC, how long after you submitted documents was your case CC and your interview made?

Well, email processing has been very quick. We have seen people getting CCs within 2 weeks. You have an expediton only for NVC? I think an expedition for the embassy would have helped you more!!

It is not actually a bad idea, but

  • Your file would be considered into their system until all the fees are paid
  • & your file would not be reviewed until you have filled in your DS260.

Your file would make it to the NVC, but (if I am not wrong) it would not be considered for a scan date until all the fees are processed. I would suggest calling up the NVC to check if it was a good idea.

Great reminder.. Suggestion to the forum moderators.. starting next month, maybe having 2 threads, separating "NVC email Filers" from "NVC Mail filers"?
