That's too much time for the case number to be assigned. Did you try calling the USCIS to check why NVC hasn't received the case yet?

Well sadly they just received it yesterday and haven't assigned a case number yet., it is a pretty long time since the approval, yes, but for some reason it was sent out from Nebraska 12 days after approval.

I have just called NVC and found out we should have got a letter - they received our stuff and had it on their system 2 weeks ago .....

You may have to call daily. Sorry.

Choice of agent - Which address is best? We give email addresses  - what do others do?

  • Address abroad use (our address is in Europe)
  • Address USA - take advice of NVC / USCIS on website and use address of family in the USA.

Ignore post, all contact via email so snail mail post request is a safety net. Thank you if you thought you would advise.

Hi.  I filed an I-130 in Sept 2016 for my mom who is from Chile.  She wanted to process in Santiago instead of here in DC.  Our NVC scan date was Feb 1st 2017 and just got the CC letter last Saturday 4/14/2017.  Waiting for interview slot at the U.S. Consulate in Santiago, Chile.  Any idea how long would it take to get that date?.  I would like to be able to fly down to Chile to be present for the interview, and then fly back home to the U.S. with her.  We did get a request for additional evidence (W-2 not submitted), but told to bring to the interview...  How long after the interview do you get the immigration visa packet?  I do not think Santiago is a heavy load visa post for immigrant visas, as they belong to the (tourist) visa waiver program; so they should be quick.  I am just trying to gauge the airline ticket timings ...

Any thoughts are most appreciated!

All the best to all!

Need some guidance in when should I purchase my ticket, being that I wanted to walk hand in hand with my husband into the US. This process is frustrating, annoying and long. My packet was received at the NVC on 03/28/2017... Any guesses as to when this will be over?

I think its better to wait until you get an interview date. On average, there's 25-40 days till interview after you get interview date so you can book accordingly. However, there's still a small chance if the embassy demands more documents or asks for a second interview - so there's still a risk.

I'm in the same boat because I can get a ticket for $600 now vs $1000 at the final moment but nothing's certain so I'm holding off on ticket myself.

My i130 was approved at Nebraska on April 10. I called the NVC for the first time today to see if they have received it, and before I could even give over my receipt number they told me they probably haven't received it yet because it can take up to 5-6 weeks to show up. Does this sound correct?

I'm just trying to chase this info up - called the embassy (use 02036086998 for when your husband wants to call - its not the same as the one listed online) to ask about it. The rep was a little useless - said "you do not have the option to do this - you should request to expedite". When I asked how others have managed it, he just kept reciting the same bit of into on expedite. Not sure if he was clueless or whether there is something I'm missing...

If the rep won't help, might be little chance to reschedule unless you have a valid reason .

Expedites can be requested via https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/visa-information-services/contact-us-immigrant-visas/

Expedite reasons: http://www.***removed***/us-visa/expedited-appointments.html

From what I've been reading, seems like they only offer limited expedites to non-immigrant visa applicants although I'm sure for emergency situations, they may consider an expedite:  https://specialrelationship.uk/2015/02/12/januarys-most-popular-question-is/

Hope that helps!
