I am a USC petitioning for both parents to move from the U.K.  Our scan date with NVC was March 27th, and initially - based on their stated processing times online - we had hoped for approx 30 days for case closed, then another month or so until interview. Following threads here, we're now realizing that's not the reality, and up to 11 weeks is the current timeframe. 

 

We (my family) haven't seen them in quite a while, and because of job commitments, would need to visit in the summer (late June / early July). Initially we had hoped they may be here by then, but that seems pretty unlikely now. 

 

My question (not a very precise one, more seeking an opinion) is whether it's worth buying non-refundable flights now (while still not really expensive) to visit them, or wait it out to see if for some reason things move faster and they get over here by that point. We're aware that them coming here in the meantime as visitors is a non-starter so we have ruled that one out. 

 

No hard-and-fast answer but trying to predict based on current times and working with a budget that might not stretch to buying flights there when prices are higher close to the time! Thanks!

That's the same scan date as mine!!

As per the current processing time, we are looking at 11 weeks (a case yesterday was processed at 9 weeks), which means June 12th. Finger's Crossed, our cases should be complete by then and we should be looking forward for our interview dates.I have noticed a 6-8 weeks wait time for the interviews(again country specific) to be scheduled.

 

So weigh your options and hope this would help make a decision!

I just received an email from the NVC scheduling my interview for May 22nd. My case was complete on April 4th and my scan date was March 30th.

Aos bill took one day after bank confirmed money was processed and sent. IV bill took about 3-4 after it showed up on my bank account.

I paid my aos on april 3rd and it showed paid on the 4th and paid iv fee on april 10 and showed paid on the 12

have to say i am getting stressed out ..... ppl who do fiance visa are higher risk than us who are married yet we suffer more

From the reading I found that once case number issued DS261, AOS fee, IV fee, DS 260 all can be done in next 2 week  after that.

Then we need to keep my AOS docs, and IV Docs ready, so we can send them.

 

So have few questions:

1> Once starting from DS 261 to DS 260 steps will be done online, after that will we receive any instructions from NVC that send your documents now ? or once we complete all steps can just send out documents there......

 

2> When seeing at IV package, i am gathering all documents to send. We need police clearance certi. (PCC) for her

My wife lives in India, so for police clearance certificate (PCC) when we should apply at passport office?? Is there a perticular documnets needed to show from NVC requesting PCC?? 

 

How long does it takes once its applied to get PCC??

 

I dont want to waste time so getting ready the package so I can do it in timely manner.

1> When the NVC receives your case, you will receive a welcome letter detailing all the fees and online process that you have to complete. Once you have paid AOS and IV fees and completed DS-260, you have to send the financial and civil documents for the petitioner and beneficiary. NVC will not send you any separate instruction to mail the documents to them.

 

2> For PCC, apply for appointment online just like it is done for passport application or renewel. You do not have to provide any document from NVC for PCC. Passport office has separate category of appointments for PCC applicants. If your address in the passport and present address are the same, most likely you wiil get PCC on the day of appointment. You have to carry your ID proof, address proof and passport. If the address has changed, then passport office will give you PCC only after police verification which might take 2-3 weeks. You should keep a lead time of 30-35 days for PCC. So apply for PCC asap. it is valid for one year. PCC is issued country specific. You just have to specify the country name. Passport office will not ask for any NVC document.

Check the NVC Process guide in my signature.  It has all the steps, the process and the expected timelines.
