6 weeks is a standard answer from the NVC. We got ours within 5 days of the case being sent to NVC.

You would need the Case Number & the invoice number to fill out the DS 261. If you get these over phone, then you don't have to wait for the Welcome Letter.

So i assumed that when i get my case identification number from nvc by calling them, i dont need to wait for the nvc welcome package to submit ds261? 

Yup. Once you get the case number and IIN #, you can log in to submit ds261 and pay the first fee. Second fee unlocks a week or two after they review the ds261 which is why it's better to call them to review once you submit it to speed up the process.

Scan Date: 9th of January 2017

Case Sent to Review Department: 6th of March 2017

Case Completed: 21st of March 2017

Interview Scheduled for : 12th of May 2017

Interview Location: London

 

Does anyone know how long will it take for US Embassy in London to send my passport back with visa? Would it be safe to plan a trip for 26th of May onwards (will need my passport)?

You never know. I'd suggest wait until you have visa in hand before booking.

 

could you please let us know how the interview goes? Would love to hear details about London interview!!

yeah it took us around 18 days from case approved in USCIS to getting case # from NVC. good luck!

How to read a NVC case Number ( according to this, my first scan is March 5, damn...)

 

"A NVC case number contains 13 characters consisting of letters and numbers, according to ***removed***. The first three letters identify the overseas embassy or consulate that accepted the original visa application. The next four numbers refer to the year the National Visa Center acquired the application. The following three numbers refer to the day the NVC received the application. It is the day of the year minus 500. For example, the number 510 means the visa application was accepted on the 10th day of the year or January 10. The final three numbers indicate the order of the application for that day. Therefore, the seventh petition filed on a particular day receives the number 007. Accordingly, the NVC case number NWD2003510007 is the seventh case created by the New Delhi consulate on January 10, 2003."

Waiting 

I haven't got a check list to see if I forgot anything.

Sent in more support letters on March 20.

Sent in a police certificate on April 5.

Was this bad sending in couple things 

at different times? My attorney doesn't think so.

Are we in week 7 or back to week 1?

 

i heard that it's gonna be 11 weeks until cc.

Thanks for that but my three numbers are 574...if I minus 500 it give me 74. Threes no such number in the calendar

Hello! 

Everytime they receive some new document from you, the clock starts again. So, your scan date would be now on April. I suggest you give them a call and ask them what is your scan date.

Nvc is now taking 11 wks for cc,so ppl it's a long wait.ive called them today again an they say 11 wks for case complete.
