NVC Filers - April 2017

Hello all

 

I am yet to get I-130 approved. But I was just wondering, how NVC will assign consulate? will they assign based on Country of current residential address or country of citizenship/permanent address? I am asking this because my country of current residence is eligible for electronic processing and I've heard that EP makes a huge difference in duration of NVC process

We were asked a question on the I-130 in regards to where the beneficiary would apply for benefits. That was the assigned consulate.

I just checked my i-130, But was not able to see that question, but they have asked for 'relative's address abroad' and there i filled in my current residential address

I know if I could do it all over again I'd go the K1 route and wait to get married until I was in the US. Crazy to think it's way quicker to just be engaged to a US citizen than married. Not to be though!

Lol that thought has also been passing through my mind quite frequently in the last few weeks.  Only downside is you can't work for a few months, and would have to file a bunch of other paperwork...and it's a tad more more expensive.  I heard it's taking almost as long for the K-1 these days (6-9+ months) if that makes you feel any better.

Son scan date is march 08 2017,an it's been 31 days no cc for my son still waiting I trust God it will be this month...

I am bit concerned now. I didn't fill in line 22 since it says "complete the information below if the beneficiary is in US and will apply for an adjustment of status"

are you filing for adjustment of status concurrently? if not, you didn't have to fill that in.

I mean..you could but then you'd have to prove that at the time you entered the US you had no intention of adjusting your status while there. You could risk being banned from the US for a number of years

Old I-130 wasn't written very clearly. One the left side of that form you'd fill out if you were adjusting status. The right side would be the location of the us consulate where the applicant intends to undergo the interview etc.  

 

quite a numbet ER of people were confused. They updated it in the new forms.
