Hi everybody, just wanted to ask if the status on the app/website changed from Case was Approved to Case was sent to Deparment of State before it got there? My case was approved a week ago on March 31st, but the status hasn't changed. Should I wait another week or so to call NVC?

We also called NVC before we received the notification of "Case was sent to Dept of State", but of course they didn't have our case. Our I-130 was approved on 1/18 and it was sent to NVC on 1/31. I would suggest you wait until you receive the notification of USCIS sending your case to NVC, and then wait 4-5 days before you call NVC.

Hi everyone

My wife just called NVC yesterday and they said that they have received our documents. I guess that makes April 6 our scan date?

And I noticed some members mentioned 'moved to review' or 'request for review'? What exactly is that and does it quicken the process?

NVC's new published timeline to take cases from scan date to case complete is now 11 weeks. If by 11 weeks , you don't have a case complete, you call NVC and they then send your case to a supervisor for supervisor review, which, in reality, actually only, means that it is in put in the queue, with other cases to reviewed. In many cases, it gets put there automatically once it reaches about 9-10 weeks. From here, It is then moved to the review department, where it could be for a couple of days to a couple of weeks, depending on the case, following which you get a case complete, or a checklist for missing docs (God forbid). However, lately, NVC has been reviewing and completing cases between 10 and 11 weeks for most cases, on the average. Hope this helps.

hello all, i am here seeking some help and clarification. I am doing the sponsor  affidavits for my husband as my income in above the requirement. The problem is my 2016 taxes was done as single, even after proving my name change driver's license.  i did not realize this until it was time to do the  affidavits.  I submitted my tax returns from 2013 to 2015 as the 2016 tax season is not closed as yet. my case was accepted on March  28. Do you think this will be a problem with not submitting 2016 transcript/ taxes and W2? I do plan to amend my 2016 after all this stress and before embassy interview.

For the Case submission, you're fine since the April 18 tax deadline hasn't passed. However, you should bring your 2016 tax information or proof you have filed for an extension to the interview since this most likely will fall far after the deadline date.

As for your taxes, married is married, and you should file either Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing separately.   If you were married before the end of 2016, you are considered married for the entire year.  They might check this on your 2016 .
