Bit worried since I was going to include my tax transcripts for 3 years + W2s even though I'm clearly over the poverty lines.

Should I remove my W2s?

They asked for the 2015 W-2 (which makes sense for them to not request me to send it to the NVC, since the W-2 is not a mandatory document to be sent).

Yes, and it is the joint sponsor's W-2 from 2015 that they are requesting.

I did send the one from 2016 though, but I guess since the most recent tax transcripts I sent was from 2015, they might just want to cross reference the numbers.

I did send the W-2, but from 2016. But since the tax transcript I sent was from 2015, I guess they just want to cross reference the numbers.

If you have tax transcripts, you don't need W-2's. If you include them anyway, it wouldn't be a cause for concern.

Checklist to bring all our 2015 W2s and 1099s to the interview. I submitted IRS transcripts for past 3 years (all above limit), 2015 tax return, one W2 (with enough income), employment verification, etc. I must admit they got me on a technicality but at least the interview is on... Form I-864EZ instructions say: 

 

"You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns for the three most recent years.

...

If you provide a photocopy of your tax returns, you must include a copy of each and every Form W-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your returns. Do not include copies of these forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your returns rather than a photocopy unless you  led a joint tax return with your spouse."

Ok That makes sense.we sent tax returns not transcripts that's why our attorney had to have our w2's

Ahh ok I understand we sent in tax returns not transcripts that's why we had to have w2's (per attorney)

Don't think so. Someone just posted if you send transcripts you don't need w2's. Only if you send photocopy tax returns like I did.

I don't think you will get checklist for W-2's. Even if you get one it will be like we are discussing just now. It will be kind of a "soft" checklist that asks you to bring some documents to the interview.
