I guess I got it because of the I-130 was out dated I'm not too sure. But I'll be meeting with my attorney on Saturday to get that I-130A filled out and mailed out ASAP.

Oh ok...I think a lot of people sent the G325A instead of the I-130A...they never make it clear when forms change! I had printed the directions a few months before we applied. I just so happened to look at the site again instead of my print out & saw that the forms had changed! It should be easy for you to fill out, a small delay but nothing that's difficult to obtain so stay positive 😊

you got a I-130A ?

that explains it, you sent an outdated form.

did you file the G-325A form?

because from what I know is that USCIS accepted I-130 froms edition 12/23/16 untill 04/28/17.

hmm, that is weird.

which version of the I-130 and corresponding G-325A ?

If you have a backup copy of it, you can check the date of it, it should be in the bottom I think.

Well it doesn't matter..

I can see now what happened with you.

That version of the I-130 you sent, is the new one that is used in conjunction with I-130A

So, you basically sent the new I-130 alone without it, and instead you sent the irrelevant G-325A that has nothing to do with it.

So has anyone else tried to look up their case online using the receipt number and that number comes up as invalid? Of course I had to try to do this after the customer service center has already closed . I looked online and it said it could be going through a background check, etc. But I'm still concerned...

Hello, @Googoozum

I've tried using the USCIS login website to track our case several times since we got our NOA1 and PD (2017-04-21), and up to this day it gives me an "invalid receipt number..." message.

Have you tried again recently?

Talked to someone on the USCIS customer service line and didn't get an answer of why this would happen. Later asked our lawyer and he mentioned seeing that before saying in some cases USCIS don't "upload them to their system", meaning we could not track them through the website as I tried before.

It looks like past the 180 days estimated time (according to their website) that USCIS takes for the processing, my wife and I will have to call and call every 2 or 3 days.

For reference:

  • I-130 sent on April 20th
  • NOA1 received on April 26th
  • PD april 21st - Transferred to Texas Service Center

I wanted to say thanks to you guys, as I have been lurking in your I-130 April forum. I filed an I-130 at the end of April (Received date of April 26/Notice date of May 1) and filed an I-129F | K3 at mid-May (Received date of May 12/Notice date of May 16) as we got married in Russia. We were using your guys' enthusiasm and positive energy to manage through this frustrating time-period of open ended approval date together with my wonderful wife. There are only a few K3 applications on the entire site, and there was 1 in my timeline vicinity, therefore the timeline estimate does not even work.... Additionally, I could not track the status of I-130 online either until Sept 5 = case was not found, but I could track the I-129F, I was banking on getting that approved first based on what I saw happening.

So, here came the surprise - no notification, no status update online (still pending), but this morning I opened my mailbox and I found a single mail - it was the I-797 NOA2 for the I-130 petition | APPROVED on Sept 1. SRC*****41577 in 123 DAYS.

What an awesome Saturday present! Of course, now comes the NVC and stuff, but at least from here, the process is transparent and predictable.

This came in 2 months faster than current statistics, therefore those of you who are waiting, there is a chance that it will go faster. It is easier said than done, but hang in there, it is a wonderful feeling when you finally get what you want and deserve.

Last but not least, it seems that at least the Texas Service Center is working more or less okay.

Thanks again for the opportunity and wish you an expeditious approval of your case!

P.S. My timeline is updated.

do you think that sending the k3 visa petition helped to get the I-130 approved  faster??

That is my perception, but I have no data to back that up with.

I believed (and therefore I filed K3 too) that whichever gets there first will get me what I want.

If I was to build the process and would be the adjudicator, then when I get the i129f I would look whether there is and I130 too and then approve the I130 as the content of both filing is essentially the same.

Yes, I have the same problem with my case number coming up as invalid. A few months ago I called USCIS & had a supervisor call me back...she said the same thing, not all case numbers get entered & the only way to track status is to call them. I'm at Texas also, PD 4/25. I don't think we're at 180 days yet, next month will be 6 months. According to my timeline on here, my petition should be adjudicated by end of October, early November. Which makes sense since Texas is getting into March petitions now. But you can definitely call & let us know what they say! I might start calling once it hits October.

Yes, that's correct. My PD is April 10th I filed G-325A before it ended on April 28, 2017. If, I'm having a RFE then I would expect I-130A mailed to me. Not a big deal

You would only get a RFE if you filed the wrong version of the I-130 form.

My I-130 form showed 12/23/16 on the bottom as it expires on 7/31/18 on the right top of the form. I filed G-325A both for me and my wife so I won't hear from them until around in December as well I'm with Nebraska Center
