Funny story ...
Back on March 22nd I emailed for an expedite, asking if the embassy can request my file and process it at their office, instead of waiting for NVC.  I had already been approved for an expedite at interview stage, meaning I don't wait for the "scheduling week" for them to pick a date.
I didn't hear back.
On 14th April I got case complete at 10 weeks 4 days.

Then today ... I received an email from NVC expedite that the embassy had agreed to expedite my case and that my file would be sent to them immediately, for them to review my documents instead.  Except the NVC already did that so they're too late for it to have any impact lol.  Bit of a kick in the teeth to have that happen AFTER my case complete lol.

Oh well, at least I'm onto the next stage.  That's my funny story for today haha.

I've contacted the embassy just to make sure they don't take the time to review my documents all over again!  I also called the medical centres for costs etc and next appt times, so that as soon as the embassy gives me my medical paperwork (they have to do it in that order here) I can book in for hopefully next week.

Can't believe after all this time the end of this process is in sight! It's almost surreal :-)

Congrats!

So crazy that they confirm your expedite after they have already reviewed it though.  What a mess of a system!

Well it's because the request to expedite goes to the NVC. They send it to the embassy who think about it for a while and send a reply back to NVC.  The NVC is just the messenger.  In my case they requested it from the embassy before my case complete, so when they got an answer back I guess they didn't think to check if it still mattered.

As a side note, my CEAC status still says "At NVC" so I guess they haven't sent it yet anyway.  How long did it take for your files to leave the NVC everyone?

Did you find out it's there because the embassy contacted you?  Or were you able to call the embassy?  The phone number for my embassy seems to be not available for a real person to answer, just automated systems. But they reply to emails in about a day so I'm trying them that way.

Good to know it's not just me that had this weird occurrence. On the plus side, at least we're both on the right side of the process now!

Wife's and stepson's interview is now complete.

Wife approved, but for my stepson some additional documents are required. (school records and a baptismal certificate).  I have no clue how long it will take the embassy to review the additional things once they receive them.  This really sux!!

We did ask when NVC sent our documents and tracked it on DHL. As soon as NVC send the files the status at CEAC changes to In Transit. I've already emailed the embassy yo enquire what the next step would be and I'm hoping they will contact me this week.

I'm not sure if they give you the exact waybill number but u can track it using their shippers reference number . Ask them the date they sent ur files and visit http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking/shippers_reference.html  For example if NVC told you that they sent it on April 17

input EXP 17 APR 2017A in the shipper's reference box .  Also, change the shipper's destination and track it. Usually NVC sends one or two files Per day depending on your embassy, of course.
