That was really quick.

You posted something yesterday and it's already resolved the next day? And today is Saturday, not even a business day.

Generally, an investigation would take place. Both sides would be interviewed and a decision would be made before he is even allowed to travel to the US. A person is innocent until proven guilty.

I think that there are much more details involved than you posted.

With OP's complaint, the embassy would've investigated thoroughly before cancelling the visa. They don't Issue\cancel visas on a whim!

Overseas applicants do not benefit from the "innocent until proven guilty" legal adage.

Actually your friend will qualify for a annulment on grounds of fraud.  He admitting to marrying her for a greencard.  And yes contact the Embassy right away as they have the ability to revoke his visa so it will not be eligible for entry into the US.  Thank goodness she found out before he was to fly.

Thanks everyone for all the amazing advice ....she did everything that everyone advised ...and they revoked the visa and will be banning him so he will never be able to step foot over here...she also took it a step further and reported him to his job which he is a cop and they are looking to take actions as well.. so sad because they was together for 2 years and have a child together for him to do her in such way...but shes grateful for all of you and thanks you all for directing her in all the right places...may God bless you all

CONGRATS!!!! I am so glad she was able to get all this done.  Again, I am glad she found this out before he was able to fly.  She will need to time to heal as a child is involved.  it is not easy, but in due time things will be okay.  Continue to be that friend and support her in her decision as Im sure you are doing.  She is great for following through!  I Commend her on a job well done.

I'm agree with you, I even gave a warning to my husband about this when he proposed me (we had a little more than a year since we met each other when that happened).

Also, I must add that is not only about being naive, one person can spend years "knowing" someone, and still get surprised for what he/she is capable to do.

Being in love can certainly blind any of us, making even harder to anticipate this kind of things

I had friends "joke" about "ooh you'll be able to get a greencard" when I was with my ex (also from the USA) and while there were a few comments when my now hubby and I got together, we both said we wouldn't rush anything because you need to be really sure.  We've been together over 7 years now, married for 4, and he moved to australia and now NZ to be with me .... plus we have a child together.  But I hear so many scary stories of these scams, and really feel for those who have been fooled and had their hearts broken.  I can't imagine being in their shoes.

Yay glad to hear there was such quick action.  All the best to your friend as she heals from this heartbreak, and the child as they learn to live without their father.  Not sure their intentions with regard to this ... whether he will still see his child, but life will certainly change regardless and I wish them all the best with this.

Believe me, sometimes any of those things means nothing, not the child's, not all the years getting knowing each other...

Decades ago, there was a very famous case in Venezuela, with a guy (Italian/Venezuelan) married with an American/Venezuelan woman. They  were dating for over 8 years, and had like other 10 years as a married couple, plus 2 kids, 3 stepchildren.

He tried to kill all of them putting the house on fire with all of them inside, only 2 of their step children's survived. All what he wanted was her life insurance.

Sorry for the horror story, and I know is not related with this post. But certainly, sometimes you can spend years thinking you know someone, but History can show you how wrong you could be.
