a person can file joint taxes with an illegal person, they have their itin

ever sponsor and joint sponsor must prove that they qualify to be so, not only financially, but being legal,

proof of being legal is a copy of the GC for residents and copy of birth certificate or US passport to prove the person is a USC

ugh. I read somewhere that if the joint sponsor's income is enough, the spouse won't even have to file an i864A and now it seems if she does file it even though her income isn't needed, there are so many more extra papers!!

PS: if she is only doing the i864A because they are married and filing joint taxes, but she doesnt need to add her income to the main joint sponsors, do we need to include her w2's? Or are the joint sponsor's enough?

So basically:

I864 joint sponsor

W2's and tax transcripts for 3 yrs
6 months of pay stubs

birth certificate

I864a Joint sponsor's spouse
birth certificate

their marriage certificate

My husband has worked in Estonia since September 2016, but his income will definitely not continue when we go back there.

On the form i-864, can he mark "current annual income" as 0 USD since his job right now is abroad AND will not continue, so technically his current employment will not sponsor me in any way. He would write in the "Additional info" that he marked it as 0 USD since it will not continue, but he would also still say what his current income here is and mention his future job and pay that he has arranged for the time we go back. Would that be okay? I read here on the forum that some people have done that, but I am interested in some newer opinions :)

Ps, we have a joint sponsor who works in the USA and whose income is enough to sponsor me.

I met my husband while working abroad in his country. When we filed for his K-1 I put down my actual salary abroad at the time and included a supplemental letter from myself explaining the situation and why that salary will come to an end and what my salary would be when returning to the states. I included a letter from my employer abroad stating my contract dates and pay. I also included a letter from my future employer in the states. I figured since I had filed two years of taxes for that job it would be best to report it as my current income at the time.

Just in case we had a co-sponsor also ;)

yes... your husband will complete the 1864 as you have stated, adding additional information in  the appropriate sections.. and then your joint sponsor will supply their I864 and supporting documents to meet the requirement.

What somebody did and was successful doing is not really as important as assuring that what YOU do will work for your case.  It is best practice to provide an I-864a from a joint filing spouse BECAUSE a Consular Officer is free to "require it" at interview.  If it isn't there, the visa issue is usually delayed at least a month.

My point is that asking what somebody else did and knowing it is successful, doesn't mean the same will be successful for you.  Your list looks fine though.
