I became eligible to file N-400, which requires previous three year tax transcripts. Unfortunately, IRS.com when I requested for 2015 for example this to be mailed to me states:

"A transcript is not available for the year you have requested. Please complete Form 4506-T or contact us www.irs.com

Married Filing Jointly?

If you filed jointly with your spouse, tax account data is listed under the social security number of the primary taxpayer shown on your tax return"

So, yes, we filed with my husband as married filing jointly, why can't I as a spouse request tax transcript for previous year? I was hoping to go through it faster and not fill out the extra forms, but it seems like it is the only solution.

Also, what about if my husband requests tax return transcripts, will I be able to use these for N-400? Will it have all my information on it?

Which ever spouse is listed first on the tax return, that is the social security number you use to request the transcripts.  I had to use my husband's number to get our transcripts.  It doesn't matter who requests them because they belong to both of you.  Best wishes!

Awesome, thank you for reply, it seems easier than I thought then. Will follow as you suggested, in the end it is a joint tax return, so whoever requests the transcript, doesn't matter.
