NE one brought a child with them to US? Does child attend interview in Mtl?

Hi all

I asked this earlier, but in a different forum so I figured I'd ask again within the Canadian forum, hoping someone might have some recent experience.

I have sole custody of my daughter, a teenager. Official paperwork and all (recently refreshed last October), along with zero contact from the father in 12+ yrs. I don't see anything on the Montreal Embassy site about whether I should be bringing her to the interview or not (not sure what value she could add).

Anyone done it recently - perhaps it depends on the age?

If you have sole custody , then you need to show documentation of that fact.The packet 3 checklist will address the documentation that you require for children under 21. I would imagine that if the child attends the interview and is of an age that they can clearly express their desire to move to the US and support your claim of no contact with dad , it might put you at an advantage.

Amanda Lise brought her 2 kids to the interview in Montreal. Haven't seen her on lately. She's probably swamped in AOS paperwork.

I did read awhile back about at a certain age,the children do not have to attend the interview, but do not recall what it is!!

Children 14 years of age and older must attend the interview... children younger than that is optional (but encouraged)

It says on the interview information that they must attend if they are over 14. My teenage daughters attended recently in Montreal, and they were not interviewed per se, just asked if they wanted to go to the US and my eldest daughter was asked if she had ever been arrested .

It was painless, and nice to have some company.
