I had everything prepared and then my cosponsor tells me he only made $10,000 for 2016 not what he told me before ($25,000).  I was very disappointed. My salary for 2016 was $11,000. I am unemployed right now staying with my wife here in Philippines. I cant find anyother cosponsor and we already are halfway through the DCF Visa process. We were going to medical/interview in a few weeks. Now that my cosponsor told me he made less than the minimum needed for sponsoring, would I have to go back to America and find a job so i can sponsor my wife ? Can someone please help me ? Im very stressed right now and confused.

As long as you are done with the petition process there nothing keeping you there.

For sure you should head to the USA, find a job that can meet the income requirements of the I-864P poverty guidelines

So then if the Embassy  asks my wife where is your husband? And she says he went back to USA is that a big deal to them? Will it cause a Visa denial for my wife ?

I don't see how it would cause a denial.  There is nothing in the embassy instructions letter requiring you to be there.   There is a section stating support evidence is required. ;)

For the petition process - YES.  For the visa process - NO.

Have you heard of any cases where the spouse had to return to US to be able to be a sponsor.

FYI $25,000 wouldn't be enough as the 125% line for 3 people is $25,525.

The sponsor 1 + the couple 2.  So you would have to make enough for 3.

The joint sponsor doesn't make enough, so there's no reason to continue using them.

Nope.  Not correct.   Support evidence is for the immigrant only.  Sponsor + immigrant = 2.

USC petitioner/spouse  is only listed on HIS I-864

Income needed for two people is = $20,300.   You will be good to go with that sponsor, as long as he doesn't have dependents of his own (wife, children) that would exceed the guidelines
