Risky as in "What if the card is delay and one has to stay overseas for much longer than expected", or risky as in "CBP may check when one left the US, and if it doesn't match with the date the AP card arrived, you are denied entry"?

 

The first risk is manageable (is mostly a matter of money), while the second not.
