NVC process

I have received the welcome letter from the NVC, also have been instructed to file de DS-261 and pay the Affidavit fee. My questions are the following:

 

Once I file the DS-261, how long do they take to unlock the IV fee?

 

Can I pay the Affidavit fee before or after (it does not matter) filling the form?

 

Overall, how long do the NVC process take before an interview date schedule?

It usually takes 3-5 days.  They will release 1 fee at a time.  Once the 2nd fee is paid  (IV) you will then be able to complete the online application. After they recieved your documents it can take up to 11 weeks for review.

Hi, I'm happy to hear that you got your letter from NVC.  My case was approved on 03/16/2017 and I still have not heard anything from NVC.  I couldn't take it anymore and called NVC yesterday and they said that  they have not received my case yet.  How long did it take after your case was approved for you to hear from NVC?  The nerves are killing me.  thanks

Congrats on your approval. My case was on approved 03/30/2017 and haven't received anything yet as well. May i know if you have receive yours since your post reply was 03/30/2017? Thanks. I just wanna know usually how long does it take for NVC to receive our case. Thanks again

I'm still waiting.... going crazy, I called NVC yesterday and they still have not received my case.    Hope you hear something soon and please let me know if you do.  I will do the same the minute I find out

Once I file the DS-261, how long do they take to unlock the IV fee? A week or so after they review the DS 261. AOS Fee has to reflect "PAID" though in order for you to pay the second fee.  Call them up and review over the phone as soon as you submit it and make sure you submit the AOS Fee asap.  

 

Can I pay the Affidavit fee before or after (it does not matter) filling the form? Fill out the form, pay as soon as you can.  Then you can call for them to review and to start IV unlocking process.  They can only process 1 fee at a time so if you pay the AOS now and simultaneously ask them to review the DS 261:

• Day 0: Submit DS261, then call NVC to review and pay AOS fee (any order for last two)
• 3-5 days: AOS Fee changes to PAID
• 7 days or so from DS 261 Review: IV Fee unlocks

Overall, how long do the NVC process take before an interview date schedule?

• From DS 261 to Interview Schedule (which depends on your consulate) 3.5 - 7 months.  If you're able to do EP, it'll be much faster.

Should take about 1-2 weeks even if they quote 6.  I was approved 3/16 and my file was sent 3/22 - received by NVC on 3/30 so took about 2 weeks in between.

haha true! actually i was mentally prepared that uscis will take 6 months, hence i wasnt worried about me (beneficiary) being pregnant cause i will give birth before interview but hmmm looks like everything is going smoothly and got approved in 37 days (which is also a good news haha) and now i have to worry about xray and vaccination but thanks to fellow vj's for their advice

We paid all our fees and submitted all the documents and paperwork online (what a lifesaver!) around 3 weeks ago. got this email today. I think it means that so far everything is good and we're just waiting for an interview? does anyone know roughly how long it should take to be scheduled? it seems like the anecdotal info on VJ is more accurate than the vague assurances from the official NVC websites! i suppose it's consulate specific too? i'll be going to MTL.
