So me and my fiancé are filing whilst I'm in England and he's just moved bases across the US.(coast to coast) He is being deployed April 2018 (so this time next year) but also the military have said he can't file for a house until he's married. He's working 12 hour shifts for the marines air station and it's incredibly stressful for him.

we are filing to try get it expidited. His command has written a letter, so had his officer supporting that they expidite it as he's being deployed on a mission in April, it won't give us time to settle in, get married, get my green card and sort the house before he goes.

has anyone else done this?

Any one have any expediting stories for military members?

Id love to hear some stories, good and bad.

Thanks.

Over a year seems still like quite a bit of time. Housing after marriage doesn't take that long to get really depending on the waiting list for on base housing, or if you are getting it off post.

But he can be deployed within 2 weeks notice being a marine, and they already know FOR SURE he's leaving at the beginning of April 2018 and it's affecting his work all the stress...And yes it's off base/post housing.. so we have to choose one together etc and he can't do that until we're married. This process and my green card and bank accounts and my job etc won't be done in time before he goes away if they don't

You;d be surprised what you can do in as little as 1 month.

Post housing, DEERS, base pass and ID cards, I did all for 3 people within 3 weeks while was in the military and deployed 4 weeks after wards.

A little "work" stress is what is to be expected. Trust me, 6 years, 3 deployments for half of that active time. I know.

Yes he can. Read below.

Honestly, April 2018 gives you more than enough time to file for K1 and receive it before he'd deploy. USCIS would grant you an expedite if your fiance would have his orders (need to have physical orders for the expedite) for a sooner deployment.

And getting a house on post doesn't take that long (we didn't have to wait at all, after we decided to move on post).  Not to mention, USCIS might just ask why not set a house off-post. That's what my husband did - he actually got a permittion to move from barracks to the apartment off post before we even got married. He set an apartment for us and we just moved in there when I arrived to the US and we got married. He didn't have any issues with the BAH either. And I wasn't even physically present in the US yet.

I don't think your green card matters at the moment. That's something to worry about in the future and USCIS has different procedures for the expedite of the AoS process for the spouses whose partners are deploying.

In my opinion - you can always try to expedite but since he doesn't leave until April 2018, I doubt it will be granted. It's not an immediate issue.
