@KierenHby

I guess my wording could be better. He wants to stay and work here, but he's a little sensitive on saying he wants a green card since some (some of his/my family and friends) assume he'd just be looking for someone to marry to get that to happen, especially since we've only known each other for a few months. Basically like he doesn't want to make it seem like he's out for the green card in that sense, he wants to come and live in the US without any sort of doubt that a marriage is fraudulent in order for him to get here. So that's why I say he's not really itching for it.

He'll most likely go the student visa route unless I guess if he can find out more about the TN visa as you'd mentioned earlier. He's out on Reddit looking at answers there haha

I wouldn't say we're desperate, he has enough time to figure things out. I just want to get better educated and see what options he has (because I've never had to really look into visas and such, like damn, there's a lot), and he wants to see what path he should go down so that way he's much more prepared sooner rather than later.

Thank you for your response, it's been helpful

Might want to look at the J1 for seasonal work, for example the Ski towns in Colorado, snowing now, use it to bring in people for the winter season.

Here's a list of occupations where a work visa would be a viable option:

Most are pretty exclusive to those highly trained in a specialized field. I don't want to be a downer, but a student visa is his only option if the two of you aren't looking at marriage. You'll see the list of people eligible for a green card is a short one:
