I'm a March 2017 filer and already received my NOA about 8 days ago.

I just signed a contract and it's my first job in the US, should I be worried because my green card is expiring in 7 days?

Will this come up during my background check as expired or extended for a year just like my NOA letter states?

I started a job during ROC, used an unrestricted SSC and DL for I-9 and didn't talk about the letter, expired GC, or anything.

E-Verify will show you as authorized to work, as will any background check.

Good luck!

Thank you.

How do I go about getting an unrestricted SSC? Mine says "with authorization of..."

If I apply for a new SSC now will it be unrestricted?

Yes, you just need to apply for a new card and prove status. ROC is fine, but if you can make it to the SSA before the actual GC expires it will be smoother.

Thank you!

I see it's in my best interest to do this right now while my GC is not expired, I haven't even thought about it.

How long does it take to receive a new SSC?

Mine always took a week to 10 days
