I also find it as suspicious as hell, but then I have seen so many dodgy issues perhaps I am getting too cynical.

Presumably there is a way of rectifying this 'mistake', make sure it is sorted before you mover further on.

Yes I am sure.  But that is not the case here, what she did is very common in the PHILIPPINES ...  so like said.. your comment was over the line.

I agree, people do try to do "illegal" practices ... but you really need to be better educated on the Philippines as what this person did is VERY common, and was not done to circumvent the visa process.

You may want to learn more about the Philippines before making some conjecture

I would suggest that you and your Fiancee seek the help of an attorney in the Philippines ASAP.   Simulation of Birth is a CRIMINAL offense in the Philippines and attempting to correct this without legal aid could result in significant legal problems for your future wife as well as the biological mother.    Not correcting it and simply not listing the child on the I-129 could cause significant problems for the child in the future.     Many things in the Philippines seem to rely on the Birth Certificate and if your wife is with you in the USA simple things like getting the child a passport in the future or granting of permissions could be difficult or impossible for the Birth Mother.   I also wonder about the father listed on the Birth Certificate... If none or unknown is listed then your future wife is the only one that can grant legal permission in the child's future.    Clearly you don't want to submit to the US Gov a known false Birth Certificate but for the sake of the child in the Philippines something should be done to correct the Birth Certificate, Ideally before she leaves..   Perhaps you should also consider the age of the child relative to when you met your future wife.  You don't want the child or anyone else in the future coming after you for child support as the child's presumptive father..     That is unlikely to be an issue in the Philippines but if they ever got to a family court in the USA that court might have some legal leeway that would allow them to force you to pay child support, depending on the timing of the birth and the relationship etc based on the strength of a Birth Certificate irregardless of rather DNA showed you were not the father.   Unlikely that you'd get stuck with Child Support for a child that isn't biologically yours but your fiancee being listed as mother on a legal document in the Philippines leaves doors open a crack that I think you'd prefer to slam shut.

I agree with what others have said that this is quite common in the Philippines and while I don't pretend to understand the exact reasons why the child's biological mother felt the need to have your future with listed it probably had some semblance of rational reason for doing so...   Maybe the actual biological mom wanted to make sure that the biological father didn't have a say in the child's future for example...    You should have a deep conversation with your future wife to try to understand the rational to agreeing to such thing but I would not as other have suggested think that it means she's lying.

This is a great point.

I'm not worried about this as there is a 0 to No chance that this would happen.  Not to mention the fact that these things cost money.  Having said that correcting the Birth Certificate (if even possible) is the morally right thing to do.
