Coal is dead; Oil is on the ropes; Natural gas is the exit plan. Solar and wind are now cheaper than Oil.

Get some funds to retrain the coal workers, those jobs are not coming back.

We need leadership that looks forward to what needs to be done and lets go of what is dead.

I swear I saw this before.  Maybe it is Deja Vu.

It would be nice if you had included some actual proof.

What proof that Solar and Wind are cheaper can carbon energy?

Big Utility Sees Pathway to $10 Oil

Here is what I found keeping in mind that "Renewables" includes Hydro.  I am all for different forms of energy, but just like my portfolio, it should be diverse.  On another note, if oil is at $10/barrel, won't that lead to people buying big bad gas/diesel guzzling trucks, or should the government put a penalty on those to discourage their purchase?

Well this is just electricity generations and not the entire energy picture.  The Natural gas uptake looks OK ,. I am sure coal is going to drop close to zero.

If Moores law from computing (power doubles and cost halves  every 12-1 8 month) applies to solar and or wind ( remember batteries cost is a big part of the equation because the sun does not always shine) then even $10 for dirty oil will look expensive.  But to answer your question, it could put a kink in things for the short term.  I just know I try and stay far away from energy in  my stock portfolio:  New energy stocks  are too volatile, Old energy may be in a death spiral already.

You may be correct, but we need to remember that even solar, windand batteries are dirty during the fabrication process. I still remember reading this story about the town in China.  I have also read of a city in Russia called Norilsk where the nickel concentration in the soil is now so high it is economical to retrieve.  The point is that all manufacturing can be dirty at some point so we cannot just look at it from the viewpoint of the end user.

What do any of those have to do with the earths, normal and continuous, heating and cooling periods?

If you want your uranium tailing cocktails.....you can keep uranium tailing cocktails. I will pass.

Why not enlighten us with your knowledge of the earths normal and continuos heating and cooling periods. I have a few seconds I can spare.

Good point, the cost of building anything is not nothing including environmental impact.

My belief is that Solar and Battery and Hydrogen will be consolidated in to stronger, larger and presumably regulated / responsible parties. I would not be surprise to Exxon use their current transformation as a company away from oil into gas as a launch into hydrogen for cars and trucks.

After Fukashima i really don't see Nuclear coming back.  The only thing that would bring it back would be a delay in oil alternatives.  Although the IAEA says it will grow by 50 % in coming years.

That is not to say we wont have another Bopal or Valdez but I think when companies like Tesla (who starts taking orders on their new home solar roof in April) http://inhabitat.com/tesla-to-start-taking-solar-roof-orders-in-april/,  We will see the start of real mass marketing and a potential boom.  Smart Grids, Batteries all that stuff is happening in Germany today.

No this is your issue. Trump never ran on the leftist environmental policy of fighting Earth's climate system. So why in gods name is he obligated to implement your policies? Even when the left loses they still demand their way. It's not gonna happen.

Donald Trump only has to please his blond believers, thanks for pointing that out.

Sure....it's pretty simple. I am sitting down in a chair in the exact spot....where there was a glacier eons ago. It appears to me the glacier is gone....and I bet two of my chainsaws...to one of your favorite sheep....that man had nothing to do with it.
