Did anyone watch the new series "Ruddy Hell! It's Harry & Paul"? Not new or groundbreaking comedy but there were some very  moments.

I think you can catch a lot more US crime type shows at normal times if you have freeview on the Five US channel. That channel just started fall 2006. Neil and I really got in to that new Robin Hood show on BBC. Also, I love Max & Paddy, Hollyoaks (I couldn't stop watching it), and I really got into that show Sugar Rush on 4. Crazy teenage lesbian.

Oh gawds, I hated BBC's Robin Hood. I watched the first three than switched off. It was just about the most unauthentic programme ever. The clothing all had modern day stitching, the women all had bleached hair and full make-up...I just couldn't get over it. Oh and plus Marion had a thicker neck than Robin! :P

Y'see, I'm a Robin Of Sherwood gal. I loved that programme, in fact, I have all of it on DVD. Authentic all the way. Nothing can compare...*sighs*

OK, so while we're talking about UK shows, one I do like is Hustle. The odd thing is that the 4 series of Hustle starts on AMC tonight, before its been shown in the UK, i.e. we're getting it first over here! Weird. ;)

I've skimmed this thread, but I haven't seen Are You Being Served? mentioned. That and Keeping Up Appearances are two shows I loved watching....not on BBC America (I don't have premium cable) but on PBS. I will still watch any episode if it comes on as I'm flipping channels. :)

I frankly find it rather embarrassing that those shows are shown in the USA, especially Are You Being Served?

Just as aside for anyone who has trouble getting series on American DVD. I couldn't afford a multi-region player and couldn't find all the series I wanted on US DVD, so I simply hacked the player I have. Most player models have simple hacks available online, you just search your player model for 'Region Free Hack" or similiar criteria, and most likely you can find easy hacks. It's usually a series of simple inputs with your remote [like cheat codes on video games] but sometimes you just have to download a driver, burn it to a disc and put it in to be read. The main tip I'd have is to definately look at multiple pages so you find some consensus among users as to which region free code will work on your player [Phillips models are the easiest to find hacks for].

Everyone might know that already, but I just thought I'd mention since sometimes you can't get good series on American DVDs and not everyone has access to torrents and things. And as far as I know, there's nothing illegal about it at all. It's just a matter of making sure you get the right code for your model. Hope that was helpful!

Yup, that's what I did. Took about five seconds to do, it was so easy. I understand the reason behind regions for pirating issues, but it's annoying when there's something you love that you can't find in Region 1.

Oh gawds, I hated BBC's Robin Hood.

I know the guy who wrote/created it! :)

Tell him it was rubbish!

I wish I could, but decorum doesn't allow it. If it did then I really want to tell his brother that I think his movies are rubbish too. ;)

I think the ratings for Robin Hood tell him that already. They were really bad apparently, tailed well off after the first three episodes. Still, the BBC gave him another series....stupid BBC.

Someone mentioned the Young Ones. The last two weekends I 've just watched the whole series and the follow up "Bottom" which we got from Netflix. I miss documentaries as I no longer have cable. I like the health channel, History channel and the Discovery Channel.

I've really got into CSI, Law and Order and House here.

Do Netflix have "Filthy, Rich and Catflap"? That was the real follow on to the Young Ones, certainly more so than Bottom is. Not much cop though sadly.
