You're only as funny as your script...and the script was written by Ricky Gervais. Even the American version...so, I stand by my earlier observation of Comedy God!

He only wrote one episode for the American version, and the first series ran the same story lines as the UK one with Gervais's input. I found the first series just didn't translate and it was slow-paced and dull. Really crappy and embarrassing. Since then, it has only got better and is an extremely clever and funny show -- just as much as the UK version. Gervais has little to do with it anymore. The characters Ryan, Toby and Kelly all write for the show.

But having said all that, Gervais wouldn't have gotten very far without his writing partner, Steven Merchant. He's just as much a genius, only taller. ;) Extras was superb.

Did anyone enjoy Nighty Night, or was it just sicko me? I loved that show.

I thought he still ghost writes on it? Ah well. I still luv him! :luv: Oh yeah, full kudos goes to Stephen Merchant aswell. He can share the crown with Ricky on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and every other Sunday. :P

Nighty Night was fabulous. Julia Davis is VERY talented.

I think he took a runner from it very quickly at the start as it was inevitably bombing. Shows just don't translate, ya know? I'm sure he coins in some kind of royalty tho!

Nighty Night was one of the most poignant pieces of writing I've seen in a long time. That along with being hilariously warped. She is indeed a very talented bird.

A friend of mine is the spitting image of Julia Davis. I can't ever see her now without thinking that she is Jill!!

I like both Offices equally because the US Office has become its own show. At first, it was a bad interpretation and a misapplied British show -but it has totally found its own voice now and I love it a lot.

Okay - my favorite show makes me feel like a bit of a numpty but I am HOOKED on Location, Location, Location. Just hooked. BBC America is on reruns now, they need to show more (or at least the relocation, relocation, relocations).

I also adore Road to Nowhere, That Mitchell & Webb Look, and Peep Show. And Little Brit, natch.

Life on Mars is great - with the exception of the series one finally (cop out!) and the series 2 premiere (lame recap that seemed out of whack with the rest of the series). Ep 2 was good. But than I had to come back here to the states, so I'm eagerly awaiting them showing more over here . . . .

I love Bad Girls -- "so bad its good" television at its finest, on par with psycho-Kimberly era Melrose Place. I have never succeeded in getting anyone to watch it on BBC America, in spite of the apparent popularity of Footballers wives

I never watched much TV in the UK. The soaps if I was around, but other than that, there was nothing I HAD to watch. Used to love Nighty Night though! Hilarious.

Since I've been here Dave's got me watching Life on Mars (excellent), Dr Who (agree with Mags, worth it just for John Barrowman phwoar!), I watched Bad Girls for the first time ever this week, that was pretty good.

House is my new favourite show! We watched 4 hrs of it on Saturday night. I read this weekend that Stephen Fry is making a guest appearance in the next series too, can't wait to see him and Hugh Laurie together.

I miss Louis Theroux documentaries, the guys a genius. But I just found the box set on UK Nova so that's downloading slowly.

I miss the one off dramas and quirky series, like "Love Soup" that Channel four and the Beeb produce in abundance. The period dramas were always good and very beautifully produced, but I guess I have had my fill of them now.

I miss the documentaries, like Palin's "Around The World in 80 Days" (Yes, I know that's an old one) and some of the history programmes. I miss Horizon and Top Gear. I miss Room 101, Have I Got News For You, Friday Night with Johnathon Woss :) and The Kumars at no 42. I miss re runs of the Good Life and Porrige. How do I survive here?

I miss the UK police dramas like Dalziel and Pascoe and Taggart (well, that's not what it was since Mark McManus kicked the bucket). :P:P Wierdly, I didn't watch much tv then and I watch less now :)

My son misses things like Scrap Heap Challenge and Robot Wars.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I hate that Andrew Levy guy that they have on at 'halftime.' He is SUCH an a$$. I don't know why I even watch it; I guess I'm waiting for Fox to axe it so I can go back to H&C or Brit Hume or ANYONE besides those idiots on Red Eye. I'd even watch Bill O'Reilly or Neil Cavuto over those guys, and Bill and Neil are pretty damn annoying.

I often ask myself why do I watch so much Fox News? It gives me the same sensation as reality television -- strangely addictive and I feel a little gross afterwards, like I should go read War and Peace as penance for letting my brain rot. It must be the same reason in Victorian times, people would take the family to the local lunatic asylum for a fun day out watching the inmates. In the modern era we have Fox News, which allows us to view the ranting and mouth-frothing of the mentally deranged from the comfort of our own homes.

I watch it because it's the only US news channel I get here in the UK. If I could get MSNBC or the US version of CNN (we have CNN International) I'd watch those over Fox News any day. Fox News reports remind me of Monday Night Football with the swooping graphics and constant noise and shouting.

He's only done a handful in the last few years in the 'When Louis Met...' genre. Weird Weekends is loooooooong gone. I just wish they'd release ALL of them on DVD.
