AOS + EAD + AP = Doubts and more doubts

Hello everyone,

 

I hope you are doing great.

 

I am very happy, next week is my Court Marriage in Houston, since our License of Marriage was issued today.

 

I need to know what are the next steps to fill my OAS + EAD and if the submission of the Advance Parole form is mandatory, I heard from a friend that AP does not guaranty that we can travel abroad, that the most important document to travel is the EAD (if Green Card is not issued).

 

I want to follow the instructions accordingly, and I thought that EAD and AP forms had no fee (hahahahaha) wow is very expensive (EAD $495 + AP $575).

EAD and AP are not mandatory if you don't want them but most apply for them because it's free if filed concurrently with the AOS or while your AOS is pending approval

Current fee is $1140 + $85 for biometrics.

If you are adjusting from a K1 the fee for the EAD + AP is waived. You just pay the filing fee for AOS (which has increased in price this year) and the additional applications will be included in your packet. Follow the AOS guide on here and it should give you a good overview. The EAD + AP is a combo card, you aren't leaving the US and getting back in without it. Your EAD is also important as it will enable you to work and enable you to do other things such as get a drivers license or ID.

I was reading that both forms have a fee. for EAD $495 and AP $575.

They're free when filed with the I-485 (AOS).

Yes!! EAD + AP are free if you submit the forms along with your AOS. If you don't submit together but change your mind while waiting for USCIS to approve your AOS, you can submit the EAD and AP by including a copy of your NOA1 for the AOS.

Not true ... EAD allow you to work ... AP to re-enter the US.

It's partially correct. AP has nothing to do with travel abroad, but does permit re-entry to the US. However, it does not guarantee re-entry...only USCs are guaranteed entry at POE.
