Hi All, 

 

I'm moving on the 31st and I'm starting my packing. I've come across this forum on the CBP website that I have to declare my unaccompanied person items that I'm shipping to my new address. Did you guys have to fill out this form (CBP Form 3299)? The form is on this website (https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/107/~/moving-to-u.s.---household-and-personal-effects,-packing-%2F-inventory-list). What exactly do they mean by "unaccompanied items"? Do they mean the stuff you're bringing in the cargo hold of the airplane or do they mean the stuff I'm sending via Canada Post or both?

The one thing I want to suggest is not overly documenting the belongings, especially if you're using a commercial mover.

Nov 16, 2016: Case Number Assigned

Nov 18, 2016: DS-261 submitted and AOS fee paid

Dec 5, 2016: NVC Scan Date

Dec 6, 2016: NVC 3 N/A and Case Complete on Phone [1 day later!]

Dec 13, 2016: NVC CC e-mail

Jan 23, 2017: Interview...Approved!

 

Removing Conditions

Hmm thanks for the info everyone! I did some thinking and I'm going to try to purge hardcore and move with 2 suite cases, a computer case box and 2 other boxes. I can bring that with me on the plane and AC has a decent price for the 2 big boxes I'm going to bring. Also it's less paperwork and questions. If you guys are curious (or this could help others) AC's prices are as follows for luggage:

 

25$ 1st up to 50 pounds

35$ 2nd up to 50 pounds

$105 3rd up to 70 pounds

$105 4th up to 70 pounds

$105 5th up to 70 pounds
