Hi everyone , I am starting to fill out the I-129F application .

Does my fiancé who lives in Russia need to get her police certificate now or does this come later on in the fiancé visa process after the fiancé visa application is approved ?

Police certificates are only valid for 30 days in Russia .

Please by any means rather take care of this sooner than shortly before!

Some offices take very long to process such certificates that's why you should get all the stuff now (translations, certificates, medical records) but inform yourself how long the police certificate will be valid for. If it has a year or even half a year validity go head & get it now if shorter make sure to take care of it after your petition is approved. Benificiaries need police certificates from every country they have lived in for a year so in case she was a student abroad lets say denmark or such then she would need one from denmark too.

Thank you for replying .

I am also confused with the whole vaccination thing for k-1 fiancé visa .

The state department web site says that vaccinations are not required for the K-1 but are encouraged to do so because later on with adjustment of status you have to get vaccinations .

Some lawyers have told me yes and some say no .

My fiancé would rather deal with the vaccinations when she arrives in the United States , she does not want to do vaccinations in Russia .

So the question is , are vaccinations required to be issued a fiancé visa ??

I would highly recommend that k1 visa applicants get all of their vaccinations done prior to the visa, before or at the visa medical.

This is because if you don't then you will need to at the least get the vaccination sheet completed again by a uscis approved doctor and at the worst might be that the uscis doctor near you refuses to do the sheet without a new medical which has happened in a few cases.

This would need to be done for the adjustment of status and can cause delays if getting an appointment is an issue as there are only a few approved doctors in each state.

Police certificates are only valid for 30 days in Russia

The police certificate is valid for more than 30 days.

The US Embassy in Moscow lists the requirements for police report here:

https://ru.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

They require the police certificate issued within the last year.  You can order the police certificate from the local police office, which takes about 30 days, or you can order the certificate online, and they will email it to your fiance in about a week or 2.

My fiance ordered hers from local police department, and it only has an issue date.  She ordered her daughters police certificate online, and it has an issue date and dates when it is valid.

To make it easier for my fiance, I had her scan and send the certificates to me and I had a local certified Russian translator translate and notarize he documents.  I plan on being at the interview with my fiance.
