I have a question from friends recently moved into USA, Lets say in 2017 that

1- How many days it took you to receive your GC after entering USA?

2-Does the GC automatically gets applied when you enter USA or you need to submit some form?

3-Does it speed up your process if you submit your fees immediately and may travel after a while or it stays the same?

4- Does SSN gets applied automatically as well or you are required to visit SSN office?

1. The physical card takes several months; they will get a stamp in their passport to act as a temporary greencard for a year.

2; Automatic, assuming you have the right type of visa and paid the fee.

3. Don;t know.  I would guess it is not faster, assuming you pay the day you enter and don[t wait.

4. Yes, if you ticked the box saying you wanted one. SSN is faster than physical greencard, and they should get it in 3-4 weeks.

1- no idea how long does it take now a days but it reached at our residence after three weeks of entry, back in 2015.

2- after getting immigrant visa, you pay fee and apply for it on line.

3- when you enter US, your papers are sent to USCIS by the airport immigration office. If you have already paid the fee, USCIS starts working on your GC               immediately. Otherwise they start working when you pay the fee.

4- SSC automatically reaches at the address you provided while filling DS 230.
