There are circumstances when DFA would allow application to be expedited but you have to have valid reason/s e.g. plane tickets already paid for and the amount of time til your departure. There is a trick many people pressed for time do. They book their appointment at cities/provinces outside Metro Manila (Baguio, Pangasinan) as there are way less applicants there and there are more available appointments. This happened to me and I didn't know of the trick back then. This was a couple of years ago. I booked my appointment at a travel agency as they have a reserved number of appointments in DFA. You have to scout multiple agencies though before paying for your appointment. You wanna of course book the earliest. And of course this means you pay more.

Leaving to go where, to the USA?  Does she have a green card?  Or are they taking a trip somewhere else?

DFA stopped accepting walk-ins a few years back, especially around metro Manila.  Maybe some of the smaller satellite offices will allow a walk-in, but I would count on it.

she is leaving for Germany.  She needs to have a passport really soon.  I guess she will still try her luck and will try to walk-in.

You can always be prepared with hand greese. I don't know the going rate but I guess it depends on how fast you want the passport. I guess I'm curious why you didn't apply earlier so you wouldn't be in this jam. Passports always have taken the longest to get processed. Oh well, good luck.

Some place are cracking down on "grease".   When we were nearing time to fly back to the states we had to get a health certificate for our dog.  When we got to BAI there were signs on the doors that stated no gratuities, we arrived early before the office opened and the staff that arrived early took care of our certificate in short order so my asawa tried to show gratitude for their service ... those people backed away from the "gratuity" very quickly.   I had to point out the sign to my asawa so she understood why they refused, and to stop trying to give it to them.

Looks to me that she was doing it graciously and not to receive any favors. Giving money after the fact in my opinion should not be considered "greese". I applaud her for her thought.

I applaud the Philippines for starting to get control of the "grease" issue.

I agree. I hope is soon disappears as it hampers those who do things "by the book".
