About to mail out my k1 visa petition!  After weeks of meticulously putting the dang thing together ...I-129F, G-325A etc etc ...before I mail it I decided it would be smart to make a copy SO....  I went to staples and made one full color copy of the entire petition (set me back $30!!!)

do i need more than one copy ? Do I give the second copy to my fiance? Please help!

Gracias

Technically you don't need a copy.. it is wise to keep one of course like you are doing. One copy for yourself is fine. You're fiance does not need one.

Later on she will just need copies of the NOA1 and NOA2 and NVC case number letter; but thats later on naturally.

I found that keeping a copy for my own records was helpful, even with a couple of forms that get repeated in AOS

The K1 journey:                                                                                                                             The AOS journey:

11/09/2013 - I-129F Packet mailed to Dallas Lockbox                                                                                         06/22/2015 - AOS packet mailed to Chicago Lockbox

02/14/2014 - Case shipped to Embassy, where it waited for over a year at my request                                 11/07/2015 - AOS approved (EAD and AP had already been approved) - there was no interview

05/21/2015 - Interview - Approved

06/19/2015 - Wedding (L)

The ROC journey:

10/12/2017 - ROC packet mailed to VSC

01/21/2019 - ROC Approved - there was no interview

The N-400 journey:

02/16/2020 - N-400 application filed online

02/21/2020 - Paper NOA received in the mail

03/13/2020 - Biometrics

02/02/2021 - Interview & test - Approved

02/05/2021 - Oath Ceremony

I made 3 of everything just for my own personal peace of mind. 1 for the original submission, 1 for my fiancé just to have on hand and refer to if needed, and 1 for a worst-case-scenario backup.

Having just one backup copy is probably fine for most people, but I'm the type who prefers to be a little overprepared. I feel less stressed about it. Most pages in my packet allowed for black & white copies – only a handful of pages required color copy – which really reduced the price at Kinko's.
