Small confusion with I-131 and refugee travel document

Finally getting to filing wife's AOS papers as we are already a month out-of-status... We plan to travel outside of USA around August and want to make sure my wife can re-enter. Hence the reason for filling out I-131 that I need some help with.

1. Because we don't have exact plan yet, can the date of intended departure and length of trip be rough estimate? If so, how rough can I go here. We know for sure it will have to be sometime between August 15th and August 31st.

2. What will be the outcome of this form, a refugee travel document or advance parole? Does it matter if we may want to travel again in December? I was under impression that AP is more strict in terms of travel, whereas refugee travel document is more like external passport issues by some counties.

Not sure on the refugee portion myself... As to the dates for the AP, doesn't really matter. You can put whatever you want. We did not even put any dates down. Don't plan on using it ourselves just figured get it "in case".

So the dates for travel can be approximate if you want to put them in.

It will be a AP.

You don't have to write any dates but sure you can write those sates you have.

Just be aware that you might end up with interview around that time so make sure you can cancel your trip if needed.

Seems kind of stupid to ask, but is it possible for my wife to get refugee travel document?

She still has Ukrainian external passport (used for travel) and it has her maiden last name, so when the time to arrange travel comes I don't know (yet) how to handle different last names. Seems that if she did get refugee travel document then it would already have her new last name and everything would match up. But again, she is not a refugee...

No as you say she is not a refugee.

A lot of people have that problem. The ticket has to be the same as the passport.

You just bring your NOA1 from AOS with you and your marriage certificate as proof of name change then she'll be fine.

She might have her GC at that time if you file here very soon.
