My finace is from Argentina and we just recieved packet 3 from the embassy last friday. Is it necessary to have the medical exam before sending in packet 3? Or is it possible to get an inteview date without it if i send in all of the other papers requested?

My other question, the police report has been a nightmare with the 'exception of article 51', has anyone tried filing for this from outside of buenos aires? we filed for one last week specifying what we needed but it still came back with article 51 included. Any advice or suggestions on the subject?

You can sent package 3 but the medical needs to be done BEFORE the interview.

I sent my package 3, waited for the embassy's response to get an interview appointment scheduled, scheduled the interview and had my medical two days prior the interview.

We requested my wife's antecedentes penales from a Correo Argentino outside of Buenos Aires a couple months ago and told them we wanted the exception of article 51. We were very clear and stressed that we needed that on there si o si. The following week the certificate was available as a PDF online, complete with the exception of article 51 on it. My suggestion is to be clear and firm with the person filing the request and there should be no problem.

Do you remember what Correo Argentino outside of Buenos Aires you used? My Fiance lives in San Miguel, so we want to make sure we get it right the second time, since the one she has now does not have the exception of Article 51.

Thank you!

We went to the Correo Argentino in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, Catamarca province. Literally the middle of nowhere. But it should work at any Correo Argentino in the country.

San Miguel de Tucuman, or Buenos Aires province?

Ok yeah, just make sure to stress (multiple times if necessary to make sure the postal worker gets the message) that you need it to have the exception to article 51 and there should be no problem. Should not matter where in the country you are.

Okay great! So she should just find the nearest Correo Argentino to her place and go ask for it in person or via phone/ email? How long did it take them to give it to you?

Thank you!

Thank you!

Definitely have her go in and ask for it. She will need to fill out a form first. Have her go to the following page, which outlines every detail she needs to know to have this taken care of:

http://www.dnrec.jus.gov.ar/Atencion_Particulares.aspx?id=priv

You can pay to get it faster. There is an option for 5 business days (common, 70 pesos), 24 hours (urgent, 180 pesos), and even a 6 hour option at select locations in Buenos Aires province (very urgent, 300 pesos). Depending on how fast you need it; we just picked the standard 5 days.

Just as others said, any correo argentino works. Stress that you need it with the 'exception of article 51', I even brought a print out of the embassy's packet 3 that explained what we needed.

However All of that and they still got it wrong! But don't worry if You get your police report without the exception, you can file for the correct one online... On the same website that you got your appointment from (http://www.dnrpa.gov.ar). We had to file a complaint on that website that our police report came in without the exception of article 51.  The correct form came in within a few days.

Do you happen to know how long the police certificate is valid for as well? I can't find it listed anywhere on the embassy website...

The police certificate is valid for one year.

The embassy sent me an email with a list of documents I need to bring to the interview. It says that if a police certificate was submitted to NVC more than a year ago from the day of the interview, a new one needs to be brought to the interview.
