did i miss something on my i-130 form?

hi good night everyone...can anyone tell me what is  "priority date" 

i'm asking because my i-130 was mailed in and transferred to the Texas Service Center..

but we never heard anything about "priority date" can someone please clue me in on what that's for?

i was reading some posts and some people keep bringing up questions about a "priority date" 

did i miss something on my form i was suppose to fill out? what is this "priority date" 

please help.

That's weird. i saw people talking about it as if it's a future date. i saw someone say "my priority date was set for Aug 8, do you think i will be approved before then" 

 

so basically... i'm confused  O_o

Is the petitioner a USC filing for an immediate relative (i.e. spouse)? I believe so looking at your timeline, but want to be sure.  If so, then you don't need to worry about a priority date (PD). PD is used to determine when a visa becomes available. There is no limit on immediate relative based visas for a USC, so there is no wait for a visa to become available.
