Everyone I know that used it, became lethargic and felt somewhat "cloudy" in their thinking.

Granted, but so what? Is that enough reason to ban something? You may think so. I don't.

It's already banned, as a mind altering substance. It does not improve one's performance, rather a hindrance to it. The same argument can be made for alcohol, although I use that. Either way, I would not want dope smokers working for me. In fact, they don't, as all employees are routinely screened for illegal drugs.

Tell me about the non-medical benefits?

As soon as you tell me the non-medical benefits of Doritos and chewing tobacco.

Apples and oranges Bro. Mind altering substances are on topic here.

So you don't want someone who smokes dope on the weekends working for you because it's illegal or because you just don't like dope smokers?

was he smoking while on schizophrenia medication? I would say that it would be harmful for him and many other individuals to do any drug at all including alcohol or cough and cold medicine. I wouldn't just out the weed, but I see what you're saying. People should be smart about any drug they take including alcohol.

No, the whole idea of 'cannabis psychosis' is that the cannabis use actually tiggers schizophrenia/psychosis in certain vunerable ppl.

oh my bad. I thought it was something that happened to people who already have schizophrenia and use pot. So it actually made him into a schizophrenic for life?

Well, I am not saying that cannabis caused his schizophrenia, I am just saying that medical research is suggesting that there is basis for it. My son is now 20 and I don't have much personal contact with him these days. But as a child he was an amazingly creative and charismatic child, as an an adult even more so.....but he has never had a job, is a self confessed Sanguinarian, and an active supporter of cannabis legalisation. I believe he has had a wasted life so far. Oh and by the way.......tea total.

I am his mother..I love him...what do ya do?:blink:

awwwww

:(

I'm so sorry. I complain sometimes now about the things my kids do but they're only 10 and 11 and I am NOT looking forward to the bigger problems that could come about once they're teens.

I hope you both reconcile at some point. Life is so short. (F)

Come on DB, I am not that shallow. If people can responsibly use MJ, so be it. However, I would not employ someone that did, because the detrimental effects will affect performance and it is illegal. If it were legal and the individual performed well, no problem.

Aside from anti-oxidants in red wine, it would only be another mind altering substance, with short term side affects.

Sorry. For clarification, the non-medical benefits are that you can feel relaxed or completely relaxed, depending on the amount consumed. I surmise that this is the case with ganja.

Sanguinarian?? Oh dear. Yeah. a little too much pot. I've known a few sanguinarians and they stopped talking to me after I told them bluntly that they were wasting their time with fantasies. But he's your son, what do ya do.

I say yes to legalizing pot... eventually. A lot of education needs to happen first.

Absolutely 100% yes. Everyone knows (or should know) the social negatives of alcohol abuse vastly outweigh those of marijuana.

The "Gateway Theory" is a huge bunch of B/S - political propaganda that conveniently ignores that its alcohol, rather than pot which is the first step on the road to "hard drug" abuse. Yet its become mythologised as some sort of pandora's box for people who've never tried it, let alone any of the "hard" class A substances.

As it stands, we will have more morons if pot was legalized. Morons as in ADD, and brain shrinkage.

I know a lot of kids with ADD and they've never smoked pot. Do you have proof that pot causes ADD?

Kids aren't the same as college kids. Too broad of a category.

And, proof is already in motion. As we speak, you will see someone walking past an item that says " Don't work or you die " and ignore that sign. And, we also see in stores where the directions is clearly written on stuff and they neglect to read the small print. I have never asked for assistance on items because I read everything on the label. I also find it strange that more of this is occuring where people lack the mentality of following signs..
