ITIN Problem

Hi, was wondering if anyone had this problem.  When we got married, my spouse changed their last name.  The passport still has maiden name.  We had the passport certified by a CAA and sent in a copy of the marriage certificate since the new last name on the tax return and W7 is different than the name shown on the passport.  Obviously, they did pay attention to the marriage certificate and rejected the ITIN number because the last names were different.  So, now I don't know what's happening with my taxes.  Has anyone had this issue before?

Thanks for any info.

I applied too for ITIN in February with my maiden name because a CAA agent at h&r block advices me to do so. My passport is still in my maiden name but I sent my marriage certificate with all documents for ITIN. I don't know if they accept it or not since I don't had any news from them. Thinking about calling them next week. Maybe you could call irs too and ask them if your spouse can re-apply and what happens with your tax return

Was there a reason you sent in your marriage certificate if you did it in your maiden name?

As a proof I'm married to my husband. I had a copy of it with me when I was at H&R block and the agent said we could include it with my application in case they wanted it. Better safe than sorry!
