"This analysis shows that a strategy of attrition through enforcement, in combination with a stronger border security effort such as the administration’s Secure Border Initiative (SBI), will significantly reduce the size of the illegal alien population at a reasonable cost."

Of course attrition through enforcement would work. The only problem is getting the US Chamber of Commerce and their ilk to get on board with it instead of passing out millions of lobbying $$$ in Congress to fight it. You can rest assured the American people have the best government that money can buy. Unfortunately the people paying for it are looking out for their own selfish narrow interests instead of those of the vast majority of America. Campaign finance reform anyone?

Why do you think there has been little to no enforcement of immigration / workplace laws since the first illegal alien amnesty in 1986 was bought by corporate America?

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I would love to be a yuppie puke with an entitlement mentality but I don't think my finances would permit hiring someone to clean my house.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
