K3 Visa Still Worth It?

Hey guys!

I've been browsing these forums since Jan, and have found them so helpful. My question is this: Is the K-3 Visa actually a shorter wait time than the CR-1? General consensus online and on the K-3 Stats page indicates that it's about the same wait time (K-3 is 300 days, CR-1 is 350 days on average). That seems pretty odd to me considering that the K-3 was specifically created to reduce wait times significantly for spouses to get to the US.

My wife and I have been married just three months, so our packet was pretty sizable with proof for a Bona-Fide marriage, and I wonder if that will make the process longer as well.

General concensus here is that the K-3 really is rarely used and almost obsolete.

You can definately try and apply for it; but better to just go for the CR-1.

That's what everything seems to indicate, but I've been prepping the I-129F packet for three months now not knowing that, so it's a bit of a letdown. But hey, at least we're in process! Thanks for the quick response!

The I-129F for married people has been a waste of time for more than 7 years.

I was looking at your timeline and saw that you had filed the I-129F paperwork back in '06. It looks like your approval time was fairly quick for both I-129F and I-130. It's so interesting how quickly the government policies have changed in 10 years.

I was also reading the K-3 page on your immigration website. It's so fascinating how the attempt to make things more efficinet and consolidated slowed down the process significantly.
