I am a born US Citizen and I married my husband last year who is from South Korea. My husband has been in the states for a while under various visas for school and now work permits (I don't really understand all of it), but he has been completely legal the entire time he has been here. So we did our interview first of march for him to get his green card and he voluntarily disclosed to them that he had been arrested for possession of marijuana way back in 2001. He did no jail time, no probation, was not ordered to go through any programs, nothing like that. He was at the police station for less than two hours and just paid a fine and that was it. That was 16 years ago and now he's getting a letter saying he has to complete a i601 form. He has never been in any kind of other trouble and has been textbook with following immigration rules. I've been reading about proving hardship and I'm terrified. Anyone have any advice on this or know of similar circumstances? This happened so long ago and everything else was perfect...will that help us out in any way? Thanks for any and all help!
