Proof of living together as husband and wife

Hello community,

 

I have a question regarding proof of living together as husband and wife.

My husband wanted to add me on his electricity and gas bill but apparently only his name will be shown on the bills, not both of our names.

If USCIS should request proof when I have my Removal of Conditions, how can I proof that he added me but that my name won't be on the bills. Should I print out the email?

I feel a little bit lost...

See if you can be added as an authorized user, and then print out the page showing authorized users.

Also having your drivers license and other bills in your name have the addresses match bills in his name will also show that you're in the same residence.

I had no problem adding my husband that is out of the country to my utilities, and his name shows up right after mine.  I also was able to add him to my vehicle insurance policy and his name shows up on the card.  I actually got a discount for doing that as well.  The "fun" part is going to be filing taxes.  Work on getting an ITIN number now, Trust me.

Hello, check your stub on the utility bill. Ours here has both names on the payment stub but not on the account part

They added me as an authorized user but that's it.

That's all you can do on some bills. Some utilities only take one name.

But USCIS would accept the document where I'm stated as an authorized user? That's good to know. I started worrying a little bit :-D

Yes, these are all things they're going to take into consideration. It's not always possible to have ALL bills in both peoples names, so a lot of people either make sure to highlight that the bills are at the same address where both people are residing or show them the authorized user page and that the person has the ability to contact and inquire about the bills in place of the main account holder. You'll be fine! =]

We came across the same problem. Only the water bill would let us have the account in both our names. So we had some utility bills under just his name, some just under my name and then the water bill in joint names. Send them all in, it shows that you both live at the same address then.

There are plenty of other things you can use besides utility bills. for example lease/mortgage/deeds (residence), car titles, jointly filed taxes, life insurance naming the spouse as beneficiary, joint health insurance.

I'm on the leasing contract but with my maiden name. They said I need a state ID or Georgia driver's license with my new last name on it in order to change the name on the leasing contract. But I can't get any of these without my EAD.

 

We are planning on putting my name on his health care insurance  after I found a job. I have a different health care insurance provider than him but that's just because right now we cannot afford to pay $700 for health care insurance.

We'll work on that once I have my EAD.

I agree. I think its pretty sub standard that utility bills normally only have one name on the account. Im sure this is something USCIS come across time and time again

Phone bill, drivers license, credit card statements, bank statements, other recent mail to you at the same address, etc.

I still have time for ROC but was wondering what I should bring to the interview if USCIS schedules one for me in order to get my Green Card?

Do I need the same documents to proof that we live together?
